I have acquired an 1896 Swedish bayonet, the one with the hollow knurled handle and the spring latch for the barrel sight. Can someone out there tell me how to take this thing completely apart? Or point me to the right forum that might? This has a mint Solingen blade on it that I would like to use for a project.

Since he wants to use the blade for a "project", I assume he's willing to damage the other parts to get it.

Just so. I'm not familiar with this paticular bayonet but most knives arn't made to be dissasembled like firearms so removing the handle for me always involves boiling and/or drilling (though with SAKs you can just pry them off).

It's his knife, he can do with it as he pleases. I doubt this is a paticularily rare knife anyway.

No, it's not rare. They were all over Shotgun News, Sportsman's Guide, Cheaper Than Dirt, etc. for a few dollars not all that long ago. May still be, for all I know. A hollow metal handle joined to a blade from that time period is likely going to be welded or silver soldered with maybe a stubby threaded tang screwed into the handle as well. I suspect getting the thing apart isn't going to be easy since, when they put it together, they weren't planning on anybody taking it apart.
