MBC IDP #9 155 gr SWC in 40 S&W OAL problems in a LWD barrel

After looking at the pictures of the LW barrel after modification by LW, I'm not sending my barrels to them for modification! It's interesting that so many are having problems with LW barrels. LW is blaming out of spec ammo that somehow works in other manufacturer's barrels. I'm thinking I'll sell mine, and take my losses.

Many moons ago I was thinking of buying a conversion barrel for my glock 20. I did like others and sent some "dummy" 40 rounds to lone wolf and they informed me that they were "out of spec" for their barrels. I informed them that they chambered in every 40 barrel I had and every 40 barrel any of my friends had including a Storm Lake aftermarket barrel. I suggested that "perhaps" "THEIR" barrels were "out of spec" and not my ammo. They offered to open up the chamber so my rounds would chamber for a nominal "fee". For the same price I bought a Storm Lake barrel and I'm glad I did.
Making a product that needs to be fixed/modified out of the package is nothing to brag about. Promoting it as the barrel to use for shooting lead out of a glock when lead won't chamber is an outright lie.
Making the excuse that its meant to only chamber factory ammo when so many have trouble with their reloads is public relations gibberish.
Would you buy a gun knowing that it would not work out of the box? "Gee its a great gun and after you buy it we can fix it for you"!!!

I agree with you in regards to the use of lead bullets. If a new customer not familiar with how tight the 40S&W Lone Wolf chambers are, just reading the product description would not inform the customer of issues identified on the FAQ page. I think the customers would read "OK to use lead ... bullets" and assume that the barrel would be "drop-in" for all lead bullets.
- Ready to use, pre-fit drop in. No gunsmithing required.
- Tighter dimensions than the original.
- Maximum chamber support, improved feed ramp design.
- Ok to use lead, plated or jacketed bullets.

If Lone Wolf offered 40S&W chambers .001" larger for "lead OK barrels", it may avoid some frustrated customers using lead bullets.

Cool. Shoot a hundred or so and check for leading. Make yourself comfortable that its not. Don't know how much you shoot but I shoot hundreds of rounds between cleaning. Little hoppes and a pull snake and its mirror clean.

I've never used clays but I am a fan of soft loads with lead. Have you benched the loads for accuracy? Compare the two? You would make "Minor" power factor with either of those loads so I would use 3.7

Yeah, I'll tread lightly and check for leading.

I shoot steel, so as long as it is minute of steel plate I'm happy with handgun loads.

I'm not sure if a larger chamber would help, might just the the ramp geometry not liking the SWC. I'll order some cones next time. If that doesn't work, then it must be a geometry problem as the soft lead rams into the top of the chamber and doesn't turn down.

Thanks for everyone's help!
