I have heard in the past that McCain got a C- or something from the NRA. I was going to give a bit more information on why, but I don't want this to become political, simply informative.

What exactly did McCain do or not do that causes him to have this rating. If I do decide I have to vote for him rather than two people with RKBA records deserving Fs, I want to know exactly what his issues/concerns/beliefs are REGARDING FIREARMS OWNERSHIP ONLY

I think it was sponsoring the McCain-Feingold Act that restricted free speech in election season.

Yeah, he was a pretty solid pro-gun politician until McCain-Feingold. That really hurt the ability of grassroots groups (including the NRA) to influence elections.

The other thing was being fooled by the stupid "gun show loophole" meme that the antis made up.

On the progun side, the most memorable thing is that he opposed the assault weapons ban back when it was seen as a politically safe (even advantageous) thing to do so.

If he were to recant on McCain Feingold and the gun show loophole stupidity, I think he would deserve a solid B+.

We have no place to go. If you sit it out and either of the 2 commies get in, it will be your fault when all the bans are reimposed and toughened.
Republicans seats are being lost in special elections at an alarming rate.
The NRA needs 10 million members to fight a hostile Congress and Whitehouse. As the old saying goes "better the devil you know then the one you don't" That devil is John McCain.

Any ratings are old too by the way.

The rating for McCain, Clinton/Obama etc will not be out until after the parties have selected a nominee at their conventions.

The last rating for McCain would be from the last time he ran for office.

McCain's only real anti-2A stance that I know of is his support for gun show background checks. He did vote against the AWB and in general is friendly to gun owners. Not as strong an ally as we would prefer, but not really our enemy and much, much better than either of the Democrat candidates.

And about as conservative a person we have a chance of getting elected in this election. I really think his chances are getting better everyday. I think he has a much better chance against Clinton than Obama.

So I was doing some research on everyone and found that Obama was born on the same date that I was..........EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW:barf: :cuss::mad::what:

O well, I know what I am going to do on my birthday from now on, Hang a picture of Obama down range and well......If that is legal??!??!?!??:uhoh:

McCain is typically a pretty pro-gun politician.

He once received funding from the AGS, an anti-gun group. He dropped them not too long after, however.

The biggest blemish on his record his McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform and his insistence on closing the "gun-show loophole", which doesn't exist. Aside from that, he's a reliable pro-gun vote.

He's really the only chance we have for a pro-gun president. Really, he was the only one who had a chance all along to give us a pro-gun pres, except for maybe Huckabee... although I realize some Ron Paul worshippers are still a bit deluded.

Oh, and, IBTL. Any semblance of politics gets locked, sadly.

Compared to his Democratic opponent, whichever one it will be, McCain is Thomas Paine, Charlton Heston, Ayn Rand, George S Patton and Thomas Jefferson all rolled into one.

Or, you could just vote Libertarian, instead of "compromising".:neener:
