There has been some posts around the internet concerning McGowen Precision Barrels closing. This information is in error. The company that closed was McGowen Gunsmithing. This is the original owner of McGowen Precision Barrels located in St. Anne, Illinois. We are not sure of the entire story but from what I've read on other blogs is that the ATF raided his business and closed him down due to some licensing issues. It is unfortunate in the fact that Harry started business back around 1959 and has been a stellar contributor to the firearms industry. We wish Harry the best. If he doesn't get his business back up and running, maybe he can enjoy retirement and do a little fishing.
