Trying to adjust my 'drift adjustable' rear sight on my Girsan MCP35.
WON'T MOVE
Tried my std way, padded vice, wood dowel/hammer - no luck.
Bought a sight pusher - no luck
Back in vice, brass punch/bigger hammer - no luck
Are they glued/locktited in ?

I'm sure someone here is smarter then me.

What is your vise padded with? Bolted to an immobile bench or pedestal? Try using aluminum/brass/copper/lead jaw liners to get maximum energy transfer from the hammer blow into the sight you're trying to drift.

Also If it is lock-tite'd into place, you can use a heat gun on low to warm up the slide and loosen that compound.

ford8nr, I feel your pain. Just had one hell of a time changing out the sights on a BodyGuard; even went to a steel punch and a machinists hammer to move one of the OEM sights.
Gave it a good soaking with penetrating oil, and even that didn't help.
Finally, carefully, lined it in the RealAvid sight pusher, clamped the pusher in a vise, and really leaned on the pusher knob. It made an ugly noise, and the sight moved. Rinse/repeat, but it wasn't pretty.
The TruGlos are in, and they were worth the trouble, but jeeze.

Got a reply from EAA, I had asked about Loctite

The rear sight is friction fit. Glue and/or Loctite is not used.

Gonna try freezing the site this weekend.

Heat & cold and liberal amounts of penetrating oil. Don’t lose patience.

The vice is key. It must grip the slide solidly, not allowing any movement. A big brass punch should be adequate if the vice is set up properly.

Hey, I'm a great fan of Miami Vise ;) Sorry drband... :)
Your point is well taken. My long suffering ShopFox wears an equally long suffering set of leather jaws, purchased from a local shoemaker. It lets me get a really good grip on the work, without marking it.
Use a steel drive pin punch.
Hate to resort to that, but if the sights being removed don't matter, have at it.

And yes, be patient. It's one of those damned 5 minute jobs that can take all day.
