Measuring Powder

I just purchased a CVA .50 cal Kentucky Pistol. The one question that I seem to be too dense to find an answer to is "How do I measure the proper amount of powder to use? " I am sure the answer is obvious but I thought I might be able to get a answer here.

Brass adjustable powder measure. They do it by volume and I'd recommend them because they're handy if you should ever make your own from antler or horn tips.

I think the mail-order companies like MidwayUSA, Cabelas, and Midsouth Shooters Supplies sell a brass powder-measure, adjustable from 5 to 120 grains (volume) for about $8.00 to 10.00.
