Mec-Gar Sight for CZ-75BD? Install in Bay Area?

I really like my CZ 75BD, but I’d like to get adjustable sights for it. One promising possibility is the “CZ75 Old Model Twin Dot Low Profile Rear Sight†from CDNN for $19.99. “Fits In The Standard Dovetail And Uses The Existing Front Sight. Old Model Dove Tail Is 11/32" Wide.†Will this fit a CZ 75BD from 1999? Has anyone bought one of these, and if you did, how did you like it? The price is certainly right, but is there a better choice for about the same money?

Also, if anyone is from the San Francisco Bay Area, who would be a good gunsmith to to have one of these installed? How much would it cost there?

Installing sights isn't that bad a task for a garage hobby-smith, or you can try the smith at Imbert & Smithers (the wait will be worse than the charge):

Thanks Larry! Whatever sight I get, knowing someone who can install them properly is really helpful.

Unfortunately, I may have to wait for the sights too, as I don’t think that the ones I found will work.

Apparently, the Meg-Gar sights are made by Precision Sights. Their website lists the old model as having a dovetail width of .345 and a sight height of .300. They list the new model as having a dovetail width of .384 and a sight height of .313. As I assume that my 1999 CZ-75BD uses the new model sights, I guess I have to wait until they get more new ones in stock, or pay more for them. Darn.

I have these on my TZ-75 Series 88. The only problem I had was with the elevation screw. Seems the screw moved too easily and every time the gun fired it would jar and move the screw a little. This led to vertically strung groups. My solution was to peen the metal surrounding the screw head to add friction and thus hold the screw position.

Do you think that your's was a fluke? Was it well made otherwise? The sight looks an awful lot like the one on the Kadet, which I like a lot. Any suggestions for alternatives? Or am I being too cheap trying to get a sight for $20?

Millet and BoMar sights are certainly higher quality items, but the Mec-Gar sight is ok when you don't want to spend a lot of money on an adjustable sight and spend money to have a gunsmith machine the slide.

Any idea on the best place to get a set of LPA sights? Is there a good online shop, or would it be best to let the 'smith order them.

CZ uses ADJ on the 85 Combat

My Cz-85 Combat came with adjustable rear sight with two white dots that matches the slide's front sight. Seems like that one should fit a CZ-75 slide? maybe you could get one from CZ.

However, I think the Combat has a different dovetail than the 75B or 85B. That and they want $75 when the LPA retails for $56 or less for a drop in sight. Weird. The quest continues.

Maybe I'll just wait for Crimson Trace's Lasergrip next year.

The 85 Combat doesn't have a different dovetail.

What is different is the rear of the slide, where the adjustable sight is mounted. The rear of the slide on the 85C is milled a bit, removing the ridge along the top, so that the sight can be lowered flush with the slide.

The sight will work on the 75B, but you may also need a new, higher front sight. Otherwise, the sight may not lower enough...

(Check with CZ-USA. Check their website. It may be that they have an appropriate front sight, too. The SA models seemt to have a higher front sight.)
