Problem is I’m not 100% sure that this press is for 410. By the looks of it I’m pretty sure that it’s a 410, The description said “shotshell reloader small bore”. I asked if the seller could confirm the gauge, but they couldn’t. Can someone take a look and confirm that it is for 410.

I’m new to shotshell reloading on a press, I’ve been loading 410 by hand for a number of years. I have also been reloading metallic pistol and rifle for over a decade now. I feel a bit naïve asking this, but I just don’t know. 😜

Thanks in advance for the reply’s. 62E0E0BE-73D0-40A2-A9A4-FBBE85B0FD0F.jpeg

Can''t tell quickly from pictures, but looks a bit bigger like a 28 or 20 gauge. If you have a .410 shell to see if it will lock under the shell plate that is the easiest way to confirm. The charge bar should say 1/2 oz or 5/8 oz on the end, with like a 502 above the 1 2 below. Looking at the wad guide, looks a bit bigger than mine, maybe a 28 gauge.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, not really the news that I was hoping for. When I purchased it I saw the charge bar stamp and was hoping that this was set up for 3” 410 / 3-4 oz load. 5B87B976-6F80-4D0F-87A1-5EA0825B9F19.jpeg

I based my assumption on the size of the shell plate and the slots for the hull all look pretty small maybe about the size of a 410. Also the a lot for the Spent primer drop tube and the perimeter of the hull slot looks pretty small as well. 4A51B745-3FED-4AA3-84E6-2C790F6A0E75.png C7ABE268-EACE-4519-8A56-3BB7B6CEB240.png 5DB2028A-0F76-4016-A311-2C6A4265012D.png

We’ll have to see when it arrives and I slide a 410 hull into it, hopefully it fits. I’ll provide an update when it arrives, I still have hope.

If it is for 28 mec does sell gauge conversion kits at a savings over a new machine

I can not tell for sure what gauge it is for. But...I do not think MEC sells gauge conversion kits for the Grabber reloader. They do sell a gauge conversion kit for the Sizemaster single stage reloader.

You are correct. No kits for the grabber. Only 3” conversations for 12 and 20 guage

This might be the excuse for you to buy a 28 gauge shotgun and discover the joys of shooting this exceptional gauge. I have, I believe 5, 28 gauge shotguns. Of course, I think I have 5 .410's as well.

I was already thinking that. And maybe a new strategy for getting new firearms. Buy some random firearm items amd then buy the corresponding caliber gun. 😆

Once it arrives, and I’ll find out for sure what gauge it is. I’ll have a decision to make. Stay tuned

They took forever to ship it out, it’s supposed to get here tomorrow. I have a 28 ga & 410 hull waiting for the fit check. Stay tuned!!!

Finally arrived today, and it’s a 28 GA.

Already looking to get a 18ga shotgun either SXS or O/U. So far this is what I’m looking at: any advice? These are all in an auction listed as excellent condition. Some with chokes some without.

EAGLE ARMS BOXLOCK 28 GA. SXS SHOTGUN. 25” Bbl’s

Stoeger Uplander 28 ga SXS 26” Bbl’s

EAA/Baikal JZH27EM-1C 28 ga, Over / Under 26 1/2” Bbl’s

No idea on the eagle arms. The uplander is a nicely balanced smooth swing shooter but if you end up needing parts they take months to get. Biakals are sturdy but interior parts are rough. If you are up for doing some painstaking stone work they can be improved.

The eagle is Italian made by the same outfit that makes zavala now. The eagle brand was built for another importer some time ago. They no longer make 28 or 410 guns. Still can’t tell you much about them but that may help you get some opinions.

Zaballa. I hate auto correct.

Just buy a browning O/U 28 gauge you'll save money in the long run and if you want to sell it get your money back out of it.
