Mec Reloader problem

I have a MEC 762 r reloader that the charge bar hangs sometimes. I have been embarrassed enough on the skeet field with bloopers that I check each hull after the powder drop stage to be sure there is powder in the hull.
I can find no burrs or any reason for the hangup, and when it hangs a simple push on the bar will release the hang up. I'm guessing the shot size is the problem? I use #9. The brass washer on the powder side of the bar is in place along with the rubber washer. Any suggestions?

Is your charge bar new enough to have the elastromer insert on the shot side?
It makes a difference on how the bar shears the shot making it a lot smoother.
I replaced the bar in my MEC 600JR with a 3/4oz bar that has this feature and it sure makes a smoother cycle.

Mec Part 304W

Part Number: 304W This brass washer is placed on top of the powders charge bar.Its keeps powders like W296 from leaking from between the bar & measure. If damaged/flattened, this washer can move with the bar. This can cause powder not to drop correctly, resulting in a light powder charge/wad stuck in the barrel. Set the wad seating ram to show a tiny amount of wad pressure on seating. This will show you if there is enough powder in the case. The measure body & charge bar may have to much clearance letting the washer get pinched when bar moves back and forth. Forcing it will flatten the high points on the washer. Then washer will block the powder drop, resulting in a light powder charge. After taking measurement of my 4 Mec 600JR, i found a new measure body was needed. Mec exchanged the old for new. There is also a lot of variation in the height of the charge bars.

Over tightening the bottles can add to the resistance too. Had some of the washer after 40 yrs get hard and cause problems too.

Thanks for the thoughtful ideas. My bar is the new style and the brass washer is also new. Will loosen the bottles and try that.

I use red dot powder With # 8 shot
I don't have any problems with powder or shot drop & NO brass washer is required

I'm just starting to shoot trap and am looking for some 7 1/2 or preferably #8 shot locally. If things go right with the larger shot then I'll know that shot size is the problem.
