Is anyone familiar with these kits?

It looks like an easy way to create a 1911-based .45 ACP carbine. I am curious about fit, function, and reliability, and no FFL required as it is basically parts, and I am not interested in extended single-stack mags. 7 rounders will suffice here.

Anyone?

1. They are very reliable and pretty accurate (as PPCs go)
2. They shoot remarkable clean for blowback guns.
3. They convert to SBRs really well while retaining reliability.
4. They are heavy.

1-4 are all due to them having almost 3 lb of reciprocating weight.

5. They have all the limitations of PPCs.
6. No LRHO.
7. They rely on the pistol lower safety mechanism-- they have none of their own. What might work for a holstered pistol may not work in a carried rifle setup.

I had one. It worked great and shot well. Lots of fun. I gave it to a friend who liked it even more than me. He still shoots it.

Here is my Glock 20 with a .45 Mechtech. I also have a 10mm Mechtech.

Nice set-up with your Glock 20. Having one in 10mm. would make for one very handy carbine.

Seems like an interesting concept, might buy one if they made them for a Sig Sauer, especially if they made it for something chambered in 357 SIG.
