Media Separator Mod Question (SS Pins)

I wonder, has anyone ever used walnut shells in place of SS pins in the wet tumbler? Just a thought.

I have the same Dillon media separator that jmorris has (post 21) and turn it slowly in the tub filled with water for a bit. The SS media will fall out into the tub. Also picking up the media is no big deal either. I just pour it back into the Thumlers tumbler after most of the rinse water is poured off. I now use my buzz box to polish my finished rounds.
