Interesting. Seems guns dont necessarily prevent crime.
Only shoot the bad guys!
Aim, press, repeat as required.
Three men are being sought in connection with Tuesday’s armed robbery of as much as $50,000 worth of guns from a Collinsville business.
Two men carrying handguns went into Southern Gun on Virginia Avenue around 2 p.m. Tuesday, said Henry County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Curtis Spence. They forced the store’s clerk onto the floor, handcuffed him and took 50 to 75 handguns, Spence said.
A third man was involved in the robbery, but police are not sure if he came into the store, the sergeant said. The men fled in a burgundy car, possibly a Toyota, he added.
The guns are worth $40,000 to $50,000, Spence estimated. The semi-automatic pistols and revolvers taken included Glocks, Smith and Wessons, Kimber 45 automatics and Rossies.
Spence said two men, both of whom are probably in their 20s, took the guns from a display case and loaded them into two duffel bags. Together, the bags probably weighed between 125 and 150 pounds, he said.
All of the guns are about the size of the sidearms police officers normally wear, Spence said.
Police took images from the store’s surveillance cameras of two of the suspects. They described the first as a black man in his 20s, between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 140 to 150 pounds. He was wearing black pants and a black hooded sweatshirt and gloves, and he might have facial hair.
That man was carrying a chrome-colored handgun, Spence said.
The second man, also in his 20s, is described as between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall and between 160 and 180 pounds. He was wearing black pants, black and white tennis shoes and a dark-colored shirt or jacket over a white T-shirt. He had braided, shoulder-length hair and was armed with a handgun.
The police did not have a detailed description of the third man.
Authorities are looking into the possibility that the men will try to sell the guns, Spence said.
Officers also have not ruled out the possibility that the suspects were involved in an attempted robbery earlier Tuesday in the Carver area. Nothing was taken in that incident, which took place at a residence, Spence said.
Southern Gun opened in October in the 4200 block of Virginia Avenue. Owned by David Haskins and managed by Robert “Butch” Farley, it buys, sells and trades handguns, rifles, shotguns and accessories.
In addition to the sheriff’s office, the Martinsville Police Department and the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) are working on the case.
Property rights are the only thing you have. Without property rights what the hell are we doing in life? Disrespect for people's property generally coincides with a lack of respect for people.Property is not worth getting killed over, or getting someone else killed over
