Mendoza .17 cartuchos cal help

CAN ANY ONE TELL ME ABOUT THIS RIFLE. I BELIEVE IT IS SPANISH. I NEVER
HEARD OF A 17 CAL. IT ABOUT THE SIZE OF A 22 CAL. IT EVEN HAS A 22 LIKE
TUBE. AND THE CHAMBER LOOKS THE SIZE OF A 22.

CAN ANY ONE HELP ME WHERE DO I GET 17 CAL AT. IF THAT WHAT IT IS.

So what does that mean what are you trying to tell me

Mendoza made a rifle (actually several models) that used a ,22 blank to propel a .17 air gun pellet. This may be what you have. I beliebe this circumvented some gun control laws in mexico, but was considered a firearm in the US.

you might be right, i thought it was a 22 when i bought it at an
acution. It has a tube to load under barrel. The hole in it looks
like a full 22lr will fit. Also the chamber. They also have a tasco
3-9x32. I guess someone would put that on a pallet rifle. It is not a cheap scope. The rifle is a very looking highly polished, nice
deep color walnut. The rifle looks like a bolt action 30-06 you
could buy in the 60 or 70s. I haven't got it home yet,the acution
was yesterday. I can't check it all yet. I'll let you know...

Glad to help. Awhile back, an article was published about these guns, I believe in Gun List (now Gun Digest). If you could track that down, I'm sure it would be useful.

i checked with a guy that works for a ffl dealer here in town. He
told me that a 17 cal is like a 22. You can buy 500 for about $25. He said that they have some. I haven't gone to get them yet. I want to pick up the rifle and take it with me.

You are right it is a 17hmr or 17mach 10. That s what don told me.
He is the guy that works for the dealer.

Now, it could be chambered for the .17 Aguila, which is a Mexican .17 caliber, like your rifle.

It is not the same thing as the American .17 HRM or .17 HM2.

I am very surprised it doesn't say what caliber is is chambered for right on the barrel.

Thanks everybody for all the help. I picked it up this morning. I took it over to don's at the ffl dealer. On the loading tube it says 17 cartuchos. He said that catuchos in spanish means cartrige. That means it takes 17 of them in the tube. But, it takes 22lr we chambered one and sure enough he was right. Sure glad to the 17 are $15 a box of 50. I like the 500 for $18 dollars better. They had it wrong in the gun catalog. When i looked at it prior to the auction i was like....it looks like 22 but the catalog
said a 17. Well everybody thought the same. Because i got it and not telling what i paid for it. I might want to sell it on the thr someday..w/tasco3-9x32 scope. I'm happy!!!!!!!
