Merry Christmas to me!!

I have been wanting to get into reloading for years, but just never had the finances available to actually get started.

Well, a few months ago, my neighbor offered to sell me his reloading gear that he no longer needs, so that I can get started.

So, that's what my wife got me for Christmas!!

I got a RCBS Rockchucker, plus a scale, case trimmer, two calipers, dies for .223, .357/.38spc, .45acp, .30/30, plus two auto primes, a powder measure, 1000 pistol primers, 2,000+ rifle primers, 6# of rifle powder or so, plus .223 and .357/.38spc brass, and bullets, plus a sierra reloading manual.

Everything for $100

Even better, I got to keep some of my Christmas bonus, and purchased some other needed items (Redding die set for .30-06, powder funnel, shell holders, .30cal bullets, etc). And, it appears that my wife, and every other relative has gotten me gift cards to sportsmans warehouse.

I won't be able to set it all up for another week or two, but I am eager to get started, but need to get my office organized first.

Couldn't have come at a better time. I was down to only 15 rounds of .30-06, and didn't have any left in the ammo budget to replace what I had shot this year. But between the gift cards and what my neighbor sold us, I will have enough to make a few thousand rounds up! Should get lots of range time this year.

Congratulations itgoesboom and Merry Christmas. It sounds like you're off to a great start and your wife done very well. The only things I can think of off the top of my head you need is maybe a current reloading manual if the one you got is over two generations old and a case trimmer, a necessity for rifle cartridges.

Good to hear that IGB! Glad your getting into rolling your own.

Just wait till you get loads dialed in for each rifle. You should see some nice results accuracy wise.

Oh by the way, that really is a heck of a deal!

A VERY important, but often overlooked item is a set of check weights, by which you can calibrate your scale. Once you calibrate your scale, then you can begin testing the accuracy of your powder measure, but PLEASE purchase a set of check weights and a couple of reloading manuals, and PLEASE read the reloading manuals from cover to cover before starting to load!

You are a very fortunate man! Not just for getting the "stuff" at a fantastic price, but especially for having a wife that is so encouraging.

Warning: she doesn't know what an insidious disease she is contributing to.

Next you'll be saving up for a chronograph, and eventually enough cash to buy some land on which you can shoot.

Already got the case trimmer as part of the deal.

The scale came with one weight, which appears to be able to be used for calibration as well as allowing it to measure higher weights. Adjustment seems is pretty easy so far too.

Already considering a chrony, depending on how many gift cards I get total, but I am going to make sure I have as much powder, brass, primers and bullets set aside as possible.
