I was looking at my S&W 686 today and i noticed that the crown or end of the bore was misshapen, i noticed it had seamed very inaccurate the last few times i shot it. I would assume this happened from not being careful when cleaning. is there any way i can get this fixed? i used to love my gun but lately it has shot like crap. please help!!!

You have to beat up on the gun pretty bad to ruin the crown. Can you post a photo? There is always the possibility it came like that from the factory.

A total re-bbl or have the bbl cut and re-crowned are about your only choices. Sorry to hear for your misfortune. Got pics?

I have an M10-6 heavy barrel that I damaged the crown just enough to throw the accuracy off a little bit. Can be recrowned easily, my 'smith is swamped at this time so I'll hold off and have him do it later. He said 20 minutes and $20. I'll shoot my O.P. for the time being.

Any competent gunsmith should be able to recrown it for you at a reasonable price.
