Has anyone used Metaloy company or Arkansas to install sights on a pistol? I am thinking of using them to install Heine Slant-pros on my Norinco 1911. They charge $50 plus $10 for shipping, and have a two week turnaround. I did a pretty exhaustive search, and can only find references to refinishing concernng Metaloy. I am basically asking if they do good work?
As a point of interest, I called Heine, and they were happy to charge me $230.80 to provide, and install the sights, and ship it back to me. :(

I have never used Metaloy but have read good things about them. They are about a 30 min drive from my home. If you are curious, give them a call and discuss what you are wanting done. Let them know what kind of work you expect and if you dont like what you hear back dont use them. Please let us know who you choose and how satisfied you were. Good Luck!

Thanks

Thanks guys for the replys. I understand that Actionworks, and Rogers Precision do great work. Of this I have no doubt. I still may go that route, using a well known smith. What I was wondering is if anyone had used Metaloy specifically. (It appears not. :( ) They just seem to have a very competitive shop rate for this type sight work. I must say that in this market, some of the going rates for sight work are a joke.

Chris Peters, who owns Metaloy, was a gunsmith at Wilson Combat for years, TTBOMK, and I would suspect that he would be able to install your sights.

He does outstanding work in refinishing guns and offers excellent customer service.

I have a pre-70 series Colt that was customized by Vic Tibbets and hard-chrome plated by Metaloy.
