I've read about the Mexican Mauser actions being in vogue at one time for custom rifles, thanks to being a bit shorter and lighter than the German G98 and sharing some 03 Springfield features. I've yet to actually see one, either in its original military trim or sporterized. Anyone here have one? How about sharing a few good photos for this fanboy?

It is not sexy but here is Hoosier Gun Works reference pictures and specs on their receivers among other Mausers. http://www.hoosiergunworks.com/catalog/mauser_reference.html

The ones that I have seen personally have been rode hard and put up wet as the saying goes. Probably the best in military trim have been already cherry picked by collectors and those appear in publications like Mausers of the World. The rest might not be that recognizable after being sportered as it was the vogue to totally scrub receivers at one time. The Mexican Mausers do not work with any other mauser bolt, firing pin, etc. due to differences in length among others.

I have one...I can measure anything you would like...I will post up some photos when I get home

Crap...forgot about this...went for a ride....likely the last of the season, you don't get many 70F days in november....need to bust out the the gear for one last trip.....today the high is 35.

When I was into milsurps back in the day , I owned several in 7mm Mauser and a few in 7.62 Nato I got most through SAMCO
The condition varied ... I also had a professionally sporterized 7mm Mauser... beautiful rifle ... that loved the 175gr bullets

I know the Oviedo is Spanish but it too was sporterized into light hunting rifles. An interesting site for info on Spanish Mausers is http://masterton.us/Spanmauhome.html ( it appears that some of the pages may be gone). I picked this one up at a gs for $40 with the intention of doing something with it some day. Hard not like these small ring 7x57 mausers.
