HB 5225 would do away with handgun purchase permits and registration. The need for these things disappeared with the creation of National Instant Criminal Background Check System in 1998.

Michigan is working toward a system of firearm laws that is more in line with Constitutional Carry, but that means that we all need to contact our legislators to encourage them to support this legislation. It is critical that legislators know that this is important to us, so please take a moment to contact their offices and ask them to support this legislation.

You can locate your Michigan legislators by going to this web site:

They need to hear from us!

Are you sure you have the right bill number? From what I just read of it, it doesn't appear to eliminate the purchase permit, or the registration at all.

I was going to contact my rep, but I want to make sure I'm contacting him about the right bill.

It's the right bill number; evidently there is new wording being added to the bill that will accomplish this goal. The NRA-ILA newsletter appears to have jumped the gun on this one, releasing the article before the new language had a chance to be added to the bill. I'm waiting for a copy of the new language, and will post it as soon as it becomes available.

but, but, but ...
if the serfs don't have to ask permission of the nobles, how will they know they're little people?

this is dangerous, the people of michigan might start thinking they're citizens instead of subjects, and we can't have that so close to Canadia!

Ah, cool, looking forward to seeing the new language. Thanks for checking into it. :)
