Michigan Bill to Remove No Carry Zones

Oh i dont know, being regalled by ones grandfathers stories of being a police officer about all the bar killings, with and without guns, he had to investigate is one reason.

Another reason is this: all the bar hoppers i know personally, i wouldnt trust with a plastic spork when they have been drinking, let alone a gun.

also notice how its right on an election campaign year, and they made sure the people deciding the bills fate would be the OTHER political party and they somehow managed to have the head in charge of the deciders to be anti gun?

Bezoar, your average power drinker has at least one DUI, D&D or domestic violence under his/her belt, and that's a disqualifying offense for CCW in this state...

So your grandfather was a cop and told you some stories. Big deal. If people cannot be trusted to CC, then let us just pass some national legislation to ban CC, entirely.:barf:

So, I guess your point is you associate with losers. Also, what is this drivel about trusting people who have been drinking with guns. Once again, MI law already prohibits CC w/ a blood alcohol level more than 0.02. That level is achieved when a 200lb individual drinks 1 – 12oz light beer. This bill would not change that prohibition:scrutiny:

Yeah, it is not like others have not already thought of that. The fact is that the bill has been introduced. I am going to throw my support behind it instead of trying to shoot it down with ridiculous arguments like you have tried.:banghead:

What are you even doing on this board?

No. In addition, the people I talk to seem not to care about the bill.

I personally choose not to drink a drop when I carry, and it's not because the law here says I can't. It's because I do not want one shred of doubt as to my state of mind and decision making abilities should I have to use my weapon in self defense.

I've already e-mailed my state legislator long ago about this bill, but I got the usual "I'll keep your opinion in mind" garbage b/c she's an anti-gun Democrat.

I concur about not drinking while carrying. It's a good idea for multiple reasons to not drink while carrying. However, I vehemently disagree with Bezoar's opinion that we shouldn't be able to carry in a bar b/c we're already prohibited from carrying while drinking alcohol, so it would be redundant. Plus, if you agree that banning guns in ANY place makes that place safer, then you should agree with all "gun free zones," including Virginia Tech's Campus, Columbine, etc.

You're in a sense acknowledging the anti-gun belief that having a gun makes you more likely to shoot someone if you get into an argument. Plus, you're presuming that people who would get drunk and shoot someone in a bar (top notch individuals) will somehow choose to obey the law by not carrying into said bar (just like murderers like Cho obeyed the law by not carrying onto VT campus, regardless of the fact that he didn't have a CCW). You're basically supporting the anti-gun lobby arguments that a criminal's potential to commit a crime should limit our IIA rights and that criminals will selectively choose to obey firearm laws but not laws against assault, murder, etc.
