OK I have the CCW license in Michigan. Does that mean I can transport my long guns loaded in the car as well as my pistols? Or do the long guns still have to be unloaded in the trunk and separate from the ammo?

Thanks.

If you look up the michigan laws you might answer your own question......When I travel from texas to my camp in the up, I just keep them unloaded and cased......but, my loaded pistol is by my side...chris3

Unless your long gun is a "Michigan Pistol" then it must be unloaded and separate from the ammo in the trunk or storage area. If it is a "Michigan Pistol" then it can be loaded, depending on interpretation of the law. Many people have successfully argued this, but I'm not willing to be a test case for it. Besides, none of my long guns were registered as such.

The Michigan pistol went away as of Jan 1, and I don't know if they were carried over once the silly law expired.

Last i knew in michigan you could carry a rifle unloaded in a case in your car. A handgun without a ccw is suppose to be in your trunk or in the box of your pickup unloaded and cased. With a ccw you can have your handgun loaded and available in the car but not a rifle. It is a consealed handgun permit not a concealed weapons permit.

Oh man, don't bring the "Michigan Pistol" thing in on this. You'll just confuse everybody:D
