Micro 380 Shoot-Out

Yep, the magazine release is one reason I went with the Pico. It is difficult to use with such a small grip and tiny controls but I don't normally have a reload anyways. It's a get offa me right now type of gun. The trigger is heavy and mine stacks at the very end but if I practice often enough it's not a hindrance at self defense ranges. If you want a hinged mag release and DAO hammer fired pocket gun your options are pretty slim.

I would argue against the idea that the Seecamp 380 has been rendered obsolete. Still the smallest profile pocket gun possible in 380. Surprisingly accurate and reliable, it fills a niche for those that need a gun as easy to carry everyday as a pocket knife. None of the other guns mentioned come close to being in the same size package as the Seecamp.

Just thought I would stick up for my choice in .380 pocket guns. I have owned them all and always come back to the Seecamp as my personal favorite .

Tallball

That Beretta Model 84; how do you say...Molto Bella!

I had one when they first came out. Great DA/SA trigger along with easy to see sights. Overall I thought it made for a decent gun for home defense but a bit too big for concealed carry. Had the single stack Model 85 as well. Should have held on to both of them.

Not a 'micro' but by far smaller/thinner than a lot of 380's on the market. Practical piece.

Y'all are gonna make me break the Grendel P10 out of lockup here.. eleven rounds in a DAO pistol smaller and lighter than anything else in the caliber in its day with nearly that capacity. :D

Glad you found one you like. Your description of your Pico sounds about the exact opposite of mine concerning the trigger. I actually prefer the mag release but everyone else who has shot it doesn't, definitely a niche within a niche. I really wanted to like the LCP II I rented but that mag release was a deal breaker. Never tried a Keltec, can't find them in my area. Side note: just realized that when you say 3AT out loud it is 380. I'm ashamed how long that took me to notice.

Tallball also said "The Mag release was horrible". I was a the range last weekend and a middle aged lady was shooting the Pico. Later, I saw her and asked her what she thought of the gun. She told me she loved the gun, loved to shoot it and carried so well. However she said she hated the slide release and the mag release. I asked her to show me what she was doing that was so hard for her. Well it turned out, that she really had not spent any time with the Pistol, because she was doing the procedure completely wrong. I spent about 10 min. with her showing how to properly use the gun. Mag release is very simple and easy. I showed her how to simply use the One finger on the strong side, Push down and slight push the mag in, and release./

The slide release is a extremely easy simple design. I have heard many complaints on this narrow snag free design, the problem is, NOT the design, but the Lack of Knowledge of how to use it. I showed her how to lock the gun back with almost NO pressure. When I showed her how to rack the slide by not even have to "Touch the slide release" she was totally awed. Look at the design. It locks open on the last round, remove the Magazine. Then pull the slide receiver all the way back, The Lever simply drops on it own.

I honestly do not know how easier this could be, Most people that say complain about this are always bashing the gun, saying they could not get there fingernail into that little grove or similar comments. This gun, is made for total concealment, and the design if beautiful What a shame so many just do not understand the firearm.

Xz7t6qC.png Again, to lock, simply pull the receiver all the way back, and very little pressure on the slide release

2. To release, Pull the receiver all the way back and the lever drops on it's own.

Pocket pistols seem to be a very personal design. I seem to be in the tiny minority that prefers the LCP Gen 2 to the LCP II.
That's the reason you can still pick up a new LCP Gen 2 for $180.

I’m with you. If I had to choose between the LCP and the LCP II, I would prefer the old/original version, whatever gen.

Something about the lighter trigger on the new (II) ones just concerns me for pocket carry. I’d probably have to carry israeli style. Too bad no green laser is available for the old gens of LCP.

I’m still not sure if LCP II is actually drop safe or not either.

Sometimes new isn’t better, for me at least.

I meant to fool with this the other day after reading it, I must remember to do that this evening. I haven't played with the pistol a lot. I should have taken it to the range yesterday when I went. I need to get more familiar with it and see if I like it enough to carry on occasion.

MedWheeler,

The only thing I did not like about the Grendel 10 was having to carry band aids in my wallet for use after a fast and frantic use of an AR stripper clip full of .380 to reload.

That was a neat concept of loading straight out of the first decade of the 1900s. Of course in a world of J fame sized five shot revolvers like the Grendel was born into it was already "reloaded" once when you started so many felt no need to carry spare ammo for EDC.

The Pico is interesting because of its second strike capability and because of the magazine release paddle which probably is not prone to accidental release, but let me say it's ugly as death.

Actually I think it is a very good looking firearm. Really not much different than the LCP. Unless you are talking about the extended grip which some do not like the looks of, but very functional. . The receiver is heavier and larger, but also one of the reasons it is such a mild shooter. And of course very streamlined. Nothing to snag. Personally I think it is one of the coolest looking guns I have seen.Beautiful workmanship throughout the gun.
