I just purchased one and was wondering what others thought of them? My first trip out with it and no failures of any kind. Kicks like a mule but does work. A little heavy but knew that going in and kind of like that. Feels like a quality built gun. Havent tried any other ammo other than American Eagle yet but still brreaking it in. I have a extended mag on it and that does allow for a bit more grip. I also have a lcp and was surprised to find recoil is more than the lcp.

I like mine just fine. The sights are not the best, but I knew that going in.

It is THE smallest 380. It is nearly impervious to moisture and thus I do not have to worry about it rusting up here in the swamp lands of East Texas!

All in all, I like it.

Oh yeah: 4 boxes down the pipe and the only FTF was the very 1st shot.

I was hot to get one, until I fired one. The trigger was miserable, and recoil was much more than my KT P3AT, which is slimmer, half the weight and far less expensive.

They're good looking little guns, but IMO, that's about all they have going for them with the plethora of micro .380's out there. But if you like it, that's what matters

the Micro Desert Eagle is a great little pistol but it's not the smallest .380---that honor goes to the Seecamp 380--it's a 1/4 inch shorter in length and a half inch shorter in height than the MDE and it's all stainless steel so it's impervious to moisture as well--here's a side by side comparison---

I've had mine (blue) for a while now.

15oz loaded makes it feel like a real gun, rather than a toy. Excellent fit and finish. The longer trigger reach and roomy trigger guard make it easier for me to shoot compared to the other small 380s.

I've run several brands through it with no failures of any kind. No recoil to speak of (compared to the 380 Seecamp or Airweight 38/357s) and with sights you can actually see, very accurate. My only real gripe is the ramp on the front sight is too reflective and begs for a few strokes from a 30LPI checkering file and a dab of cold blue.

Easy take down for cleaning.

Size wise, it's a hair larger than the Seecamp and smaller than everything else in the caliber.

It's a keeper!

The groove in the middle of the front sight I painted and that helped. It is slightly lower than the rest of the sight so it should stay in place.

Recoil weight and price Have friend just bought one. I can buy and carry 2 KelTec p-3AT for the price and both combined would weight just a little more. Recoil is also much less. A design better left in Europe.

I've had one since May.
The slide cracked at about 180 rounds.
No problem since then.
It kicks hard.
It's reliable.
It's very accurate. (even at 52 yards)
It's heavier than my Kel Tec .32 and P3AT but it's no problem to pocket carry.

The buffer should be watched and replaced as necessary.

At present it's my choice for pocket carry.

I don't find it to kick as hard as a Walther PPK in .380, and
the gun goes everywhere with me these days.

The hot Double Tap JHP and Hornady TAP rounds are my carry loads.

I do find it to be very well made and reliable to the extreme so far.

Should do every job I require a .380 to do.

Plus, put some wood grips on it from Marschal or others, and it looks nice.

My plan is to buy the blued version as well.

Haha! And this is coming from the guy who could probably pick off a squirrel at 200 yds with a NAA Mini .22lr.

M2 must be the pocket gun master of the world.

That's funny.:)
But no, I'm just a decent shot. I use to be a lot better but at 72 years old you have a lot working against you. (getting old sucks)

The little MDE is amazingly accurate for what it is.
I can't do it, but the gun will hold a heck of a group at 52 yards, standing.
I put two shots under the target because I wasn't correcting up enough.

Most people can shoot pretty good at a distance with small guns but they they just haven't tried.
This first time I had my friends shoot beyond 15 yards they tore up that white 12 inch target from 52 yards.
The girl and her father had a bet going on who would do some chores. I think the father won by one shot.:D

I stand corrected! I had not noted the more demur dimenions of the Seacamp. Indeed it is shorter than the MDE, so much so I'm not sure I could hold the thing. Trigger finger plus 1 more is not much of a grip!

Several on this thread have noted the horrible trigger pull. Mine is just great and no where near heavy. More like the long smooth pull on the Kahr PM9.

I thought the trigger guard edge on my MDE was sharp, so I rounded it off a little. Feels fine now.

According to my Lyman trigger gage the MDE trigger pull is 9 pounds.
As a comparison the double action trigger pull on two S&W J Frames is 10 pounds.
(plus or minus a couple ounces)

Is that all? It felt like 12 or more to me. The J's are fairly stout, but there's also a lot more grip than the MDE.

No problem since then.

So, you don't shoot it anymore, or the crack hasn't become any bigger?

Or did you have the slide replaced?

If the latter, then how many rds thru this one?

I bought the gun in May 09. The slide cracked a few weeks later, at about 150 rounds.
It actually cracked sometime while I was shooting that above black target. When I was cleaning the gun the crack stood out like a sore thumb.

I called Magnum Research. Of course they took care of everything and set some kind of record getting the gun back to me.

I don't keep track of rounds fired but I've fired hundreds of a number of different reloads and factory ammo in the gun since the slide change and it's working a hundred percent.

In March I replaced the MDE with a SIG P238. I really like the P238 but after 300 rounds it had become a jam-o-matic, so I've gone back to the MDE for pocket carry.
