I wound up winning an eBay auction (which is something I rarely do, being the cheapskate scrooge that I am [see avatar]) for a 2-die set of 300 Savage reloading dies. I've never heard of the brand, though: Micro Precision. Can anyone here tell me about the company? These dies appear to be very well made.

Looks exactly like older RCBS dies. I wonder if the company was bought by RCBS to gain die making capability, like Hornady bought Pacific for the same purpose.

The dies may have the year of manufacture stamped in them although the company may have used a date code instead of the actual number of the year. Look for a two digit number along with the other information stamped in the die.

I looked, an dint see nuffin.

There is one clue, though. Between the box and papers, the maker's name & address occurs four times (Omaha), but only once is the zip code included. I conclude they were made shortly after the USPS introduced zip codes. When was that?

I have a set of those that I couldn’t identify. Glad I stumbled across this thread. I think mine are .270 or 30-06 and I don’t use them because I have other dies that I had already been using, but it’s nice to know what they are.

Thanks tightgroup. I looked at those patent dwgs and they don't correspond to the dies pictured above, which are conventional, very like what you'd get from RCBS etc. today.
