Microtech automatic

Is anyone familiar with microtech knives? I looked at a folder with green linen micarta handle , the pocket clip had to be squeezed for the blade to unhinge and it used a liner lock. Before I plunk down $300 I'd like to hear some feedback. thanks

Mircotech makes outstanding knives. I personally do not own one, but my father has carried one of their autos for over 5 years and loves. I would purchase one myself, but the funds issue comes into play and Benchmade autos are also quite nice(READ:cheaper.) I would check out some of the Benchmade autos before I drop the $300 on a Mircotech, they are a fine knife, but the price point is too high in my opinion. Happy Hunting.

My wife bought one at Blade - they are good. Just be careful who you buy it from - at Microtech they charged us over $100 more than we found it for later. The wife asked Microtech if they'd give the check back or if they wanted the knife back and they refunded the difference.

My Ultratech D/A OTF is ridiculous.

The level of craftsmanship that goes into that thing is just silly.

They are true works of art that work.

If you see one you like, buy it.

As the manufacturer, Microtech is in a very delicate position at Blade. They have distributors and dealers picking up 10's to 100's of knives, some of which will be sold at the show. It is considered business suicide for a legit company to sell low when their own mass clients (dealers/wholesalers) are there competing for the same dollar. The solution is to sell only at the MSRP and let the dealers sell for whatever they want to. That way they aren't taking advantage of their own "discount" to get the sale. I'm surprised the boys refunded the difference.

Yea, it was interesting as most of the maker's booths did not sell knives for that very reason. They were pretty good about it since the wife made it clear if she didn't get the difference back they were getting the knife back. I can see their predicament at the Show.
