I posted this at the Firing Line, and wanted to get some input here also.

I've got the 617 and cleaned her up....can't wait until the range opens up (have to wait for the hunters to return, firing is suspended until 1000 :( )

I am ordering the speed loader from DS-10 (once HE gets back from hunting) and some snap caps from Midway.

I also want to get one of the videos that y'all mentioned, regarding performing a trigger job. I have J, K, and L frames that I will be able to work on, once I get some more info.

I've got time, and was hoping for some input to assist in the decision making. So here is the question....Miculek or AGI?

AGI Technical Manual & Armorer's Course Video "Smith & Wesson Revolvers" VHS

Learn about the fascinating history and development of the S&W revolver and the differences between the J, K, L and N frame models. Clearly see and understand the inner workings, learn how to check cylinder stop timing, straighten a bent frame, examine the fit of the double action sear and repair a broken firing pin. Assembly and disassembly along with complete basic smooth and tune is demonstrated step-by-step. 120 Minutes.
$29.39

Gun Video "Complete Disassembly & Reassembly: Smith & Wesson K, L, N Frame Revolvers with Jerry Miculek" Video DVD

These videos are great guides for complete and detailed disassembly and reassembly for maintenance, cleaning and customization. Easy step-by-step instruction for proper care of your firearm.

Gun Video "Trigger Job: Complete Action Tuning for Smith and Wesson Revolvers with Jerry Miculek" Video DVD

Complete instructions for tuning the trigger on S&W K, L and N frames revolvers. Complete disassembly, part identification and instructions for getting a crisp, light trigger pull with perfect reset. 110 minutes. DVD.
$27.99

The Miculek is on DVD (advantage) but is out of stock.

The AGI looks to be more all-encompassing, but does it hit the trigger job aspect as well as Jerry would?

And if Miculek is better, would getting both be advantageous or redundant?

I'm taking my neice to shoot ConTact with me (kinda like IDPA) and then we will play with the 22's (auto and revolver :D ). I always like to see the guys compete with a 14 year old......steady hand, good eye, and the girls seem to listen better

Hope it gets above 50..makes the shooting easier for her.

I've got Miculek's Trigger Job. I can't think why you'd need another DVD/Video as this shows the entire internal workings of a typical S&W. Unless you want to do machining to your revolver, I'd say this is a complete course.

I have an AGI tape for Sigs. As it is in the VHS video format and probably shot on prosumer or less quality cameras the resolution is not sharp and it is hard to see some of the details, but that could be my old eyeballs.

Thanks Steeleye, yours is the only reply to date.

In the interim I discussed this with some people at my club and decided to go old fashioned..........I bought a couple of books.:D

Midway will be delivering the books and some snap caps in the next couple of days.

Something I 've read here, and have come to appreciate since yesterday, is how much fun a 22 revolver is. Not having to think about the cost per round while enjoying the accuracy of the firearm is a good thing. :)

More fun to come.
