Midway has SPP

Sitting at my desk. Hear the email chime. Immediately I look and see it is the notice from Midway for SPP's. Seconds later it chimes again with LPP's. Holy cow and I am right on it!

But nooo... I click the links and see the sold out on both. Being the quick thinker I call the toll free number and assume the role of "special customer because I got an email notice." Nice Midway lady says I'm too late. "But wait, I just got the notice," I tell her. Tough. She had already placed two orders for other primer customers. No explanation other than high demand.....

What a tease!

Absolute waste of time, every notification brings same response. Why even bother ?

It's worth the call , we were at the range a couple months back and got the notice on my phone, 2 days later me and my shootting buddies had 20K of primers
ETA: call asap when you get the notice don't waste time going on line

For what its worth guys, I got the notification and checked the link before I posted and they were available. They went fast as always.

I quit dealing with midway over a heavy barrel and fajen stock( 10/22) special they were advertising in the monthly circular $199.99. I opened the mailbox pulled out the advertisement , went immediately to the phone and placed the order . I was informed that I was too late . How could that be ? That was the most stupid thing I have ever run across . I wanted the combo for my little girls birthday and got the shaft instead . I will never deal with midway again over that . They must have had 2 or 3 they were trying to get rid of .

I posted in another thread I think they are generally selling the primers before they finish sending the emails out... very long email notification lists!

Midway is no different that other dealers carrying primers. Once any type of word gets out the primers are long gone. Still too many folks buying too many and not sharing.

I've been backordered with Cabelas for months now for S/LPP- they tried to cancel me a month ago, but a phone call put me back on the list in my original position.

Good thing I had my 'loading room well stocked for all this.

Question for Kirk

Cpt Kirk,

So you have been backordered that long? I spoke with a seemingly knowledgeable phone/catalog salesperson who said the bo's have been running about 3-4 weeks on the lpp's....I guess she is exaggerating a little. I feel like just putting my order in and waiting. She did tell me that you only pay the $20 hazmat fee once per order, even if they have to split the order up. That sounded good...

Are you talking about your snail mailbox? Like the Postal Service? And you quit them because of this? That's not Midway's fault -it's yours. If you want the deals you've got to get a little more up to date. Like up to about 1990..

Any good deals at Midway are long gone before that flyer ever got to the Tulsa post office. Probably 30 million customers saw it before you did. Get on the email lists and maybe you'll have a fighting chance..like, the world turns and your mailbox is from the age of dinosuars. looong out of touch.

2 or 3?.....LOL! They wouldn't bother sending out notices for two or three - those would be in the Tuesday clearance notices that are sent continually and you have to dig out yourself. It's not worth their time to actively sell two or three of anything.

Yep, I think the problem with Midway is just the amount of customers they have. Good for them, not so good for us at this time.

I have to wonder about marketing strategies with the larger retail companies though . When the new Playstation iv was out and everybody was sold out over and over again . A buddy of mine and I went to Wal mart to see if they had one in stock they said no . They sales person called another store about 5 miles away and a person went to the back and said yes we have 4 . We went immediately to that location took under 10 minutes to get there . My buddy said where are the 4 playstations we were just told you guys have b/c we want one . They said we dont have any . He said what about in the back the person in electronics said no there are none back there either . So my friend begins to throw a tantrum deluxe . A kid hears him and comes around the corner saying yeah I talked to them and there are some in the back . So we asked what gives ? The salesperson who had turned bright red after this replied we do have some , but , we are not allowed to release them yet . After explaining to us that it is a marketing strategy that the big retailers use to keep the hype going ( appearing to be out of stock all of the time ) . So in a nut shell we got a playstation that night and an education on how the public reacts . I buy all of my reloading stuff from a gunsmith buddy of mine that marks everything up 10% and I get a way better deal than what midway can give me and my money is going to someone I "like" .

I can confirm that Cabelas will only charge the hazmat fee once if a backorder is split.

The way I see it is that Midway rather sell primers than have to deal with the back orders and phones inquires that don't generate revenue.

I'm not disagreeing that some products might be marketed that way but I don't think that's how Midway does business. It wouldn't make sense for any company to sit on product that sells.
