Midway wont ship AMMO to Delaware!

Yesterday I placed an order with Midway and discovered that I had ordered something that cant be shipped to DE according to their computer.

So I asked and was told by customer service that they are not shipping ammo to Massachussetts because the Attorney General fined them.

So what does this have to do with the State of Delaware??????

After questioning it a supervisor from Customer service called me back, and said that the ATF has published a guide to state and local laws. In the guide it says that the City of Wilmington was requireing a business license to sell guns and ammo so since Midway had been fined by Massachussetts they were taking no chances.

Every business in Wilmington needs a business license, that has not changed in at least 50 years, There is no seperate license to sell firearms and ammo in addition to the FFL other than a business license.
Lack of a local business license never stopped mail order or internet sales before. They mumbled something about paying sales tax, DE does not have a sales tax.

I also dont live in the city of Wilmington, I pointed this out and was told that if one municipality in the whole state restricts sales (they have not),
Then Midways computer red flags the whole state. They wont even ship to my FFL now!!!!!!!


I let Midway know my displeasure with their lack of effort on behalf of the Gun owners of DE.


I ordered ammo from AIM Surplus instead.

If you live in DE dont bother with Midway, they have seen my last order, lots of other folks I can take my business to.



LET ME REPEAT THERE IS NO LAW IN DE OR WILMINGTON THAT PREVENTS MIDWAY FROM SELLING AMMO HERE TO ANYONE OVER 18 FOR RIFLE AND 21 FOR PISTOL.

They have not been fined or told to cease and desist by DE officials.

Seems to me that you should be ranting and raving about your state's laws and those of Mass., not Midway.

They are just trying to stay in business in a very unfriendly environment.

No law, and you did exactly what you should do. Go elsewhere. You may want to send a letter to the president of Midway asking him about his policies. Or buy some stock and be sure and go to the meetings.

The reason I posted this is to make other folks aware.

Midway is a large supplier on the Net, If they take actions like this without looking into the facts, it wont be long before other folks in other states have similar restrictions real or Imagined placed on what they buy.

I believe the lawsuits against the out of state cos. has to do with not being a "licensed MA dealer", and "selling ammunition in violation of Massachusetts Law". No, it makes no difference that the cos are not in MA. Midway, ammoman, and Kieslers were fined $2500, and if they jump though hoops, and sell in MA again, they will be monitored.

Midway also refused to ship a blackpowder revolver to California,
although it is legal for them to do so. I ordered it from Cabelas
instead. Unfortunately, I think they are over-lawyered. If they don't
mind losing business by imposing needless restrictions on

Have you tried to buy ammunition through the mail from an out of state vendor recently? GOAL members who attempted this have been repeatedly told that “It’s against the law to ship to Massachusetts†and “the law changed recentlyâ€.

Several companies specializing in catalog sales have made a business decision not to sell to Massachusetts because they find it nearly impossible to understand our convoluted state laws OR because they did not have the software to keep up with such sales. These companies have concluded that they should verify that purchasers have a license to carry or FID card. But they don’t have the capability of accepting a phone order, putting that order on hold, and matching it up with a piece of mail that comes in a week later. It’s a logistical nightmare that larger companies just can’t handle.

But what about this “the law changed recently†rumor that has surfaced? I just heard somewhere that Midway is temporaly stopping sales of ammo and components to Illinois because of threats of legal action because it is illegal to sell them in Chicago. IIRC They plan to resume sales when they can update their software to recognize Chicago area zip codes. I am sorry to hear this, but I will just be angry at Chicago, and Governor Daley. Jim.

This is how the fascists work the system: make it unrpofitable/severely inconvenient/risky to sell in a STATE or any CITY within a STATE...too much trouble for a marginal business to overcome the hurdles. De facto ammo and supply ban.

With Midway being a mail order and internet business it sounds like they are slowly taking themselves right out of the business.
They were pretty good when they offered free shipping, but when they started charging for shipping they became no better than any other mail order business.

Well IF the order I placed with Midway LAST WEEK ever gets here it will be my last with them.

Not shipping to DE is just poppycock.

I'll stick with CDNN and Doug Kiesler.
CDNN is faster and Doug has been a personal friend for over 25 years.
