I have what I consider to be a rather early rifle that originated in 1834.

Does anybody know of any earlier military percussion rifles; and, if so, could they show pictures of it/them?

It is not a conventional box lock, more just a further development of the fairly much used Kyhl's lock, but as you state - with a "new" form of safety catch:

As it was made at a percussion rifle, the front (and some of the rear) end of the Kyhl's flintlock was cut off. It really is fairly conventional, with the exception of being some 10 years earlier than most of the early military percussions long-guns.

For those not knowing the Kyhl's flintlock, Mr Kyhl developed a flintlock needing fewer parts than the the conventional flintlock in the early 1800's - thereby saving production costs. The Danish/Norwegian army and navy had several models of long-guns and pistols featuring this lock:

Jäger rifle with Kyhl's lock
Infantry musket with Kyhl's lock
Naval musket with Kyhl's lock

I am at my summer house and regretfully have no pictures/information available of the pistols with the Kyhl's lock here.
