I've been planning to buy some 30-round magazines now for some time, but I fear I've waited too long. I'd bought some other mags through CDNN, but recently they seem to be out of everything. Their magazines seem to be sold out in most of the popular sizes and most of their items pegged as "out of stock" seem to be permanently so.

Anyway, is there anywhere else to get good quality Mini-14 mags? There was one brand called "Black...." something that I can't now recall. They were supposed to be good quality.

The current administration seems to have scared everyone into a panic situation and with good cause. Ammunition seems to be scarce due to a "component shortage" and everything else left over seems to be junk.

Anyway, if anyone knows where to get any good third party mags, please let me know.

Thanks.

Promag steel 20 rounders seem to be the best aftermarket Mini 14 mags available. I have eight I ordered from Midway last year, they all work fine and are hard to tell apart from the 2 factory 20s that came with my rifle.

Ruger is selling the factory 20s to the general public for $40. If they are out of stock on the website give them a call and backorder them, many posters over at www.perfectunion.com have done this and then recieved their mags sooner than they expected.

Ruger ceased production of the 30 rounders a long time ago, but apparently the have begun making them again. New factory 30s are starting to show up for a steep price at auction. The consensus is wait a little while and we should be able to purchase them at a relatively reasonable price.

EDIT: Cheaper than Dirt (the bastards) have Promag steel 20s for $18, out of stock but backorder OK, for what that's worth.

Ruger seems to be at odds with gun owners at times. Why restrict 30-rounders to police and military if one is committed to the actual interpretation of the Second Amendment?

Black Warrior was the brand I had recommended to me. I'd also heard that Pro-Mag was okay up to 20 rounds, too, and to think, at one time I had Ruger 30-rounders (NEW) coming out of my ears, and I lost them! I also had AMT stainless .22LR mags for my Ruger Mark IIs and they vanished with my Ruger mags.

I may have to go with the Pro-Mags, though, as I'm having problems finding any 30 rounders. I'm also having problems finding .223/5.56 ammo. I've always liked handguns better than rifles, but I should have stocked up. Procrastination!
