Mini-14 price check

I was wondering as to a fair asking price for a Mini-14 SS ranch. It has about 500 rds. fired, 4 10 round magazines, 1 5 round magazine, Tasco silver antler 3x9x40mm scope, ruger rings, hogue synthetic stock, harris bipod, mini-14 bipod adapter, synthetic sling, and original factory wood stock. BTW, I'm in California.

Just an estimate but between $300 to $400 depending on condition and age. Check with your local dealer about cost and retail prices. Add ons don't mean much in the gun resale arena unless it would be a really nice scope for instance - and then you are better off selling the add on separate.

When selling a firearm I generally find there are:

Cost (what the dealer will buy it for - he has to make a profit when he re-sells)

Retail (what the dealer charges)

Friend Price (somewhere between cost and retail - depending on the friend)

Personally I would keep it - sounds like a nice rig - and it is just about the only decent .223 semi-auto you can have in California anyway.

I don't know if you are planning on selling it to a dealer or a private party. If a dealer, you won't get nearly as much. I also don't know anything about CA prices but I know they are often higher than the rest of the nation.

I had a stock one with no extras and I sold it for $500 in almost new condition. I think I had put less than 500 rounds through it but it sounds like your would still be in excellent condition.

Are your 10 rounds mags factory or are they cheap aftermarket? If they are factory, they are worth quite a bit on their own. If factory, you can add about $100 to the price.

The Hogue stock adds $30-50

The scope adds about $50

The Harris bipod adds about $50

I wouldn't sell it for less than $600 and I think $700 is much closer to a fiar price with all the extras. You might ahve a hard time selling it for that so you could consider selling the extras separatly. You would get the money if you did it like that.

The finish (have to love the Ruger stainless) is flawless, with only very minor scratches. The magazines are aftermarket Pro-Mags that work flawlessly. (If they were factory, then they'd sell for $100...EACH).

Although I paid $439 NIB about 6yrs ago.

I think I'd be pleased as a potential buyer to see that package for $450 .... but not overly surprised to see a tag for $525.!
