I've got a M1 Carbine,US.30 cal.
If you are looking for something you want to shoot at stuff and kill at more than 75yrds skip the .30 carbine.(however at the muzzle it's about like a .357 mag for ft/lb.)good for around the house.

I have a 580 series Mini 14 and love it,it is not a tack driver, but it does what I expect a cheap, tough carbine to do.
181s are fine too, home defense, and are more than accurate enough inside of 100 yards (any that I've seen)

Yeah I have a m1 carbine a OLD universal It's not a JAM O matic like everyone says they are but it doesnt run flawlessly and it especially doesnt like 26 degree weather...

Funny, they worked fine for the Big Red 1 at Frozen Chosin. Hooah!

The Universal carbine was never military issue, and the "Big Red One" wasn't at the "Frozen Chosin".

I know... I was playing that video game, the Big Red 1, and just wanted to type that in there.

I have no clue who was at the Chosin Reservoir other than that it was the Marines who had the bitter fight there, according to Gunny Highway.

But the point is, the M1 Carbine worked in the deserts of Rommel's Africa to the Beaches of Normandy to the frozen expanses of Korea and the steaming jungles of Vietnam and so shall it work in the urban warzone of Lost Angels.

Yes the military issued carbines work 'round the world, the aftermarket ones, (Universal, Planefield, Kahr, etc) aren't generally reliable.

Actually alot of m1 carbines had trouble in the extreme weather of korea...

how the heck can one guy have 345 posts in less than a week? Wow.

Very simple, I have no life now that I quit all the other forums and I got kicked out of my Warcraft Guild for pulling too many Leroy Jenkins... and if you know what that means, you are not much better off than me!
