Mini 30 questions

I have a min 30 Serial # 189-xxxxx, and was looking for some info. I have read a alot of negative info on the MINI 30 and was thinking of selling it. I have quite a bit of ammo, 11 mags and a folding stock with a AR style adjustable butt.I have recently bought a Rock River AR and was thinking about selling the mini. It is in great condition and had a the local gun dealer offer me 600/cash or 650.00/in store credit for the gun the mags and the folding stock along with the factory stock. What do you guys think are they that bad or should I sell it. I was wanting more like 750 for the gun, mags, and stock, I have 650 in everything but I bought the rifle 6 years ago and know they are worth more right now. I am a bit torn I have sold guns in the past and have regretted doing so, but now I don't know. I was thinking about selling it and buying a cheap sks for the ammo I have. Give me your opinion.


Oh and buy the way this looks like a cool place.

Get the SKS and keep the mini. I can't think of a single time where I regretted not selling a gun.

i like my mini 30 its very reliable with a good magazine and proper ammo. Most of the feeding problems ive had ive narrowed down to the fact that alot of the 762x39 ammo has bullets seated out to long for the minis magazines. Ive ran into this with pmc and wolf. If i bump the bullet a little deaper on my press it runs fine. I just routinely do it now when i buy a new case of ammo.

I'd keep it especially if the magazines all function. If you want an SKS, buy a SKS also. Nothing wrong with having a number of rifles.

Ruger Mini is on the Obama ban list and is on the NYC ban list as well; so they can't be all that bad. LOL.

By the looks of things you'll be lucky to even get to keep that thing legally in the future; let alone buy one again after you sell it.

keep it for it's the ideal hog rifle IMO.

Most of us "need" only one gun, but "want" a safe-full of them.

So do you really want to own only one gun? If so, sell your Mini 30.

To me.... I already have one, love it. Had two ARs in a past life and prefer the Mini 14/30 for my intended purposes.

Is the gun relatively accurate (4moa)?
Are the mags reliable?
Does it feed and fire commie ammo without a hitch?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then you have no reason to sell it. I love the SKS but want a mini-30 too. They are lighter and handier than a 20" SKS.

My Mini 30 has had about a dozen fail-to-fire on the first attempt, out of about 1,000 rounds of Russian ammo. It is only used against solid targets out to about eighty feet. Unless one plans to use this for combat, why does it matter? They can buy about 200 rds. of high-priced Rem. ammo for a 'Road Warrior' scenario (no tall babes with crossbows...).
For those anticipating being in combat, even an 'AK clone' can jam, as I've seen it happen.

Looking brand-new with wood and stainless, I would never consider selling or trading it, but have no idea about the patterns: don't shoot at paper and don't care about patterns.
Its first Promag 10-rounders (blued and ss) are new and with only one misfeed in about 200 rounds of Wolf/Monarch, it is my permanent carbine, along with the SKS and maybe the Mini 14 (.223 ammo prices ludicrous).

I kept it, Had several offers, but not what I wanted for it, I told myself and my brothers that if I didn't get X amount for it I wouldn't sell it. I still have it, oh and I have several other rifles, a Rock River M4, 30 carbine and the mini 30, 10/22 that is it for the auto loading rifles. Thanks for the input.

You have a nice family of rifles and are fortunate to have diverse semi-auto calibers (maybe a real GI carbine).
That 10/22 must also be lots of fun?
