howdy,

I had a ruger mini-30, that among other problems (it was a complete lemon), the trigger assembly would simply fall out of the bottom of the stuck every couple of rounds or so. the gun would essentially field strip itself. very frustrating! i met another feller who had the same problem, and was wondering if other people out there have encountered the same thing, or know the solution?

the gun is long gone, but i'm still curious

thanks

Seems to have been a problem since they first came out in the 80's. In fact I still use a trigger group from a Mini-30 as a paperweight that someone had tossed out at the range.

no kidding! i had no idea this was such a prolific problem!

mine was such a lemon.

the firing pin broke, twice, and you have to send it back to ruger to have it replaced

the rear site was made of some crumby alloy, and simply cracked in half

it sure shot straight but it was such a problem child. i switched to a marlin 336, solid, sturdy, and dependable.

I saw this problem on a friend's Mini-14 once. Our solution was to carefully squeeze the trigger guard in a padded vise to close it up slightly and engage the latch behind the trigger more securely. No problems after that.
