Mini-30 Very Happy

I bought a used Mini-30 over the winter. Didn't get a chance to shoot it. I did buy a Har-Bar for it and installed it before shooting.

My first time out, I used Tula 7.62x39 and got about 33% duds. I was worried that the firing pin spring might be too weak.

I joined a great Club that has a 100-yard rifle range. I took it out yesterday before Trap using Golden Tiger Ammo. No FTF's - perfect operation. I'm 60 and wear glasses. You can see 3 hits......2 you can't see are in the black. Not super shooting but for me and iron sights at 100-yards.....pretty darn good.

I love this rifle. I should have shot it before the Har-Bar but I wasn't that smart. I'll say this.....the Har-Bar sure can't hurt you any! Funny- one guy at my Club loves Tula for his AR? Maybe I got a bad batch?

I had the same problem with WOLF in my MINI 30 1 or 2 out of 5 would not go bang. Tried some Brown Bear and had zero problems. I now roll my own so I've had no further problems.
Lots of folks dont seem too fond of the 30 but aside from my dislike of peep sites in general it has been a great shooter.

Folks claim Yugo milsurp or Silver Bear is the best of the Berdan primed stuff.

I prefer the boxer-primed WWB, Fiocchi, or PMC.

When I bought my mini-30 I was expecting a carbine with the attendent wt reduction----not so. That sucker is heavy!!! I loved the peep sight. Not so thrilled with the sheet metal safety, and awkward way of fitting the magazines in the gun. Needless to say it went away.

I had the same issue, no problems with commercial ammo or my reloads.

I made a mistake. That's a Mo-Rod Stabilizer.

I stick to brass, Yugo as much as possible.

I bought my Mini-30 last summer (1990 manufacture). The only ammo I've used in it is the Yugo. I think that I've put over 600 rounds through it without a problem.

Love the gun - Hate that rear peep sight. I wish there was an open rear sight piece available.
