I have a Ruger Ranch Mini 30 with a 189 prefix. Today I picked up RCBS reloading dies with two expander buttons(?). One is .308 and one is .311.

Which is correct for my Ruger? And, does anybody know the twist rate for this mini? What weight bullet?

Any powder recommendations?

Thanx.

Mini 30

I have a mini-30, and I use either 150 grain .308" or 125 gr. .310 bullets in it. Supposedly, Ruger built the barrel to handle either, and I cannot tell much accuracy difference between the bullets. The favorite bullet is the 125 grain .310 Winchester fmj with 31 grains of H-335. With a gas block thermal stabilizer attached, I consistantly produce 1.5" 6 shot groups with it. It is a pretty picky gun, but I am satisfied with it's performance as a 200 yard deer rifle with the 150 grain Speer or Remington bullets in .308".

Huh? Do you have a link/picture/source?

And, these are 6 shot groups at 100 yards?

I'll second the WHAT for the thermal thing.

Anything that can make a ranch rifle into a 1.5MOA shooter would make me more interested in them (provided that "thing" doesn't cost a fortune).

slug you bbl

Take a lead bullet of the highest dia and push it through the bbl. Put a micrometer on it and you have your bore.

Lead bullets are sometimes cast hard, 21-23 hardness and a "gas check" is placed on the fire end of the bullet. You can push these to 2200 fps and make them to size.

Still waiting for picture/info/background on the harmonic convergence thingie.
