While at the range yesterday, I saw a guy with a Mini Maglite mounted to the picatinny rail of his M4. He left before I had a chance to ask about it. All of the mounts I've looked at are too big for the AA size Maglite. Anyone here know who makes it or where I might find one?

I'm not aware of any being made now.

I knew guys in the past who did it and the bulbs often didn't survive very long at all. Think it depend on the weapon and location of the mount, but they weren't designed for that.

Just wanted to give you a heads up before you dropped cash on something that didn't work or wasn't to your satisfaction.

I did once had some bushings fitting the outside diameter of the minimaglite and the inside diameter of a Weaver ring. I mounted it to a .22 rifle using a Weaver base screwed and epoxy to the fore arm. I installed a aftermarket tai-cap with a remote switch, but I was soon dissapointed of the low output of the minimag.

What you need is a Surefire 6 P with 120 lumens lamp or a TACM III flashlight with a remote switch.
Both will fit the 1" diameter Weaver ring.

Save up and get a Surefire G2 for $30. It's *way* brighter than a mini Maglite. Surefire makes a recoil resistant bulb that you can add to it, but it probably isn't even necessary for an AR.

Fobus makes a light mount for the Surefire for about $25.

Modified Mini-Mag

Actually, I have a neighbor kid who made a 5 LED conversion for my Mini-Maglite. It has a small battery shim/spacer so 123A lithium batteries can be used. At 175 lumens, it is much brighter than the Surefire and can run for about 7 hours. It's amazing what kids learn in high school.

Man, I'm really mad now! All my neighbor's kid does is bounce a ball against our common wall!!!!!

I'll trade you my neighbor's kid for your's :D

PS- I would be interested in one of those lights also if he wants to start his own small business!

I had one for years mounted on my winchester 1300 defender. I also got the pressure switch adapter for it. I got either the mount or the switch at cheaper than dirt. But more recently, I remember seeing that mount for sale someplace else. Try to google a few word combinations. I bet you will find it.
