For this discussion, we're talking about brass that doesn't often show up free for the taking at the average range. Assuming it's offered at a fair per-round price and would be shipped in a flat rate box appropriate for the number, what is the minimum number of fired brass you would consider worthwhile to purchase?

Seems to me it would take about 200 handgun or 100 rifle brass to make a decent buy, but for some particularly rare cartridges, or for a great price, it might be fewer. I have bought a lot of as few as 50 once-fired rifle brass (darn near stole them) but never fewer than 300 fired revolver brass. What do you think?

I am sure that its just me. But I rarely buy under 500 pc at a time. It just dosen't seem worth paying the shipping on much less. But depending on the caliber (357mag, 44mag 10mm to name a few) and how much I want it at the time??? I would go down from that ammount to 200 or 250 pc.

That being said I see a lot of guys buying 100 and less at a time.

YMMV

The best deal is the small flat rate box full. If you can get brass in those numbers that wold be the minimum for me. Or get a med flat rate box full and be done with it for a while.:D

I never buy less than 1,000 as a general rule. Less and the shipping adds a couple cents per piece and frankly it just isn't worth the bother for me. Now if we're talking rare caliber brass, whatever you can find is good.
