On July 15th there will be a totally unorganized, yet fun, "shoot" at the Rainbow Sportsmans Club just outside Cokato. Handguns, EBR's...if it is fun, bring it!

The range does charge $10, but that is good for all day or until your ammo and your friends's ammo runs out....

There is likely to be just a small group coming, with folks arriving from time to time. The organizer will be there about 8am and stay into the dark. I plan on arriving about the same time.

Excellent. I don't know for sure that I can make it, but I've got it on the calendar, so I'll give this thread a bump to keep it up where other Minnesota THR members might see it.

What are you planning on bringing? If I make it, I'll probably bring along some or all of the following:

DSA SA58 Para Congo (FAL clone)
PTR-91 (HK91 clone)
Arsenal SA-M7S with Kobra red dot (AK clone)
M1 Garand
M1 carbine
M38 Swede Mauser
HK P7PSP (my newest addition -- I haven't shot it, yet)
Colt Gunsite CCO
Colt SAA .44 Special

If work does not interfere, i might just come over. I googled the Rainbow Sportsmans club in Cokato and it says that it is a private club. How does it work if you're not a member?

July 15th Cokato Get-Together Adds NRA FIRST Steps Class!

Two of the folks planning on attending are NRA instructors and thought it might be fun to conduct three NRA FIRST Step Sessions, (8:00am, noon and 4:00pm) at the Cokato Get-Together set for July 15th. Bring friends and new shooters and introduce them to safe shooting...and they get the FIRST Steps Class also. The class will be just $10 additional...that is the cost of the class materials.

Class size will be limited and will be fun...

For those not familiar with the curriculum, it is a general safety and use class for new shooters. It is both classroom and range. Participants receive an NRA Basic Shooting textbook and NRA completion certificate. We focus on one gun, but we expand it a bit on the range and will have many models to try. This is a great way to introduce new shooters to the sport, and you won't find the class any cheaper (free is pretty cheap).

To register, send an e-mail to me indicating your preferred time and number attending. Remember that the range has a $10 fee/person, and that the class is an additional $10 for the materials. We will provide the guns, targets and ammo; we can provide eye/ear protection, but most people probably would prefer to use their own.

So, come to the get-together...bring a new shooter!

I'll try to get there. Sounds like fun. I'm mostly a pistol and mil-surp guy. Maybe a few bolt-action longs.

Wife and I are in the middle of finishing the basement, so I can't be sure about taking any given day off. Hope to see you there.

Looks like I'm going to be there, and I'll be bringing along a few buddies. I'm looking forward to meeting some fellow THR members, and generating some empty brass for the reloading bench!

Last bump! The shoot is tomorrow. I haven't checked the forecast, yet, but today is perfect! It's about 72 degrees outside, mostly sunny, with a light breeze. You couldn't ask for a more perfect summer day.

I'll be showing up around 9:00 with a couple of friends. We plan on staying for a few hours. I hope to see a bunch of fellow THR members there.

I'm hoping to make it. This will be a great chance to meet more people from at least a couple forums.

I just stumbled upon this, quite by chance. Definitely gotta start paying closer attention. Was at the Minnetonka Sportsmens Club yesterday shooting all by myself. I'd like some range time at 300 yards. Perhaps I'll make it out there and bring some of my MilSurp cuties. Do they have metal or strictly paper punching? I'm in the market for a varminter.

Well, I just got back from the fun shoot. We definitely had fun! It's a nice facility, and everyone was very friendly. Paul even donated four bags of flour as targets for my .308 tracer rounds!

Anyhoo, here's some pics taken this morning:

Is there anything more planned in the area? I live just over the border in Wisconsin but unfortunately am still waiting in kuwait for a nice flight back. I usually go shoot at one of my friends back yards (we set up about a 600m range there) but I am looking to meet some new people down in the minneapolis or menomonie areas as im moving down there.

It was great fun...belt feds, tannerite, make big boom! I burn easy and am a nice shade of red tonight...I just got home....Detroit Lakes area...about 3 hours from Cokato. Hope to do another later in the Fall....

By DL eh? I had the .50 out at the public range on 78 just south of Perham this weekend. I'm up there most weekends putting a few rounds downrange to helf me de-compress after trying to golf.

:D

I live near Wildflower Golf course...Pelican Lake...30 miles or so from Perham.. I tend to go to the range in Erhard, ... we should meet some time at one of those ranges to some serious damage to paper targets and dirt berms.

Erhard has three shooting areas...essentially 35 yards and in; about 75 yards; and about 150 yards...
