i just got myself a lone wolf barrel for my glock 22 and am now in the market for some lead bullets. i have had good luck with MBC in the past with .357 and 38 special, and would like to continue to use them for my .40 loads. my first thought was to get the 180 grain TCFP (IDP #5) because i had been using basically the same thing from berrys MFG. then i noticed that they have a 170 grain SWC (IDP #2). i prefer the SWC bullet shape much more than the TCFP but i am concerned about possible reliability issues because this will be the load that i will be shooting in competitions. anybody have any experience/opinions about the reliability of a SWC vs a TCFP in a lone wolf glock barrel?

I have no idea how they run in a Glock with a Lone Wolf barrel, but they have been flawless in my stock Beretta 96. I can't make that gun fail with anything, though, so it may not be the best example.

bds will be along shortly and I betcha he can tell you how well MBC's IDP #2 pills and Lone Wolf barrels play together. If not send him a pm.

You may have to seat the bullet a little deeper to get it to feed reliable since the bullet has more of a shoulder. It may be easier to start off with the TCFP until you get an idea of how the throat and chamber is cut in the barrel.

I use the following OAL for my Glock 22/27 with Lone Wolf barrels. The chambers are tight and I need to use .421"-.422" taper crimp at the most (Winchester factory measures at .421"). According to Lone Wolf, the chambers are cut for .400" jacketed diameter bullets, so you may need to polish the chamber to fit the larger .401" diameter lead bullets.

They all drop freely into the LW chambers with a "plonk" and feed/chamber well from the magazine.

Thanks. I am just "paying forward" for the courtesy that was extended to me by many generous reloading/shooting mentors. :)

Well I have about 8K of 40 brass saved up from the range so it is about time that I find a pistol to wear out all that the brass with.:D These posts are peaking my interest in a 40 more each time I research them. Glad those in the loop are able to help those of us starting out on a new caliber.:)

**UPDATE**

I went ahead and ordered up a box of 170 SWC from missouri bullet (idp #2) and just got out to the range today. had two failures to feed in 60 rounds but the rest fed flawlessly. accuracy was at least as good or better than jacketed. leading was very minimal.
