I am starting to reload after a long time away and I will start with 44 special. The Hi-Tek 2 coating looks interesting. Does it give any advantages for loading 44 special below 900 fps? I will load for a Charter Arms Bulldog so the velocities will not be high. Thanks for any and all advice.

I use MBC coated bullets in my SBH .44mag. I load light and have zero leading issues. You'll like it.

Advantages? Less smoke.
I agree, much less smoke.

IMO at velocities under 900 fps you probably don't need a coated bullet but there is the less smoke issue we already mentioned. I'm loading their coated 9mm bullets and they shoot very well. You will not be disappointed.

Hi-Tek coating = less smoke but have a strange odor.
lubed lead = more smoke

At 900fps, I shoot soft Hornady SWCHP,swaged lead without a problem. Fit is everything.

I just recently purchased a few K of 9MM coated bullets from MB and have shot the snot out of them. They load well and shoot well with less smoke I am happy to say the least.:D Well worth the small fee for MB to powder coat them. Do be sure to bell the necks enough to insert bullet without shaving the coating though.;)

I haven't tried them yet. I'm still using the smoky MBC plain lead.
I love to make smoke!!!! It gives the other shooters something to gripe about! Hey, I like to do my part!
But I would like to give up the leading!!!!!
I also wish they would make flat base boolits instead of just those heavy bevel ones!
