I'm looking for people that frequently visit Cabela's in Hazelwood Missouri. Most of my friends aren't gun owners and don't plan on owning them either. So I have been thinking it may be fun to meet some of my fellow THR members in person.

Never been up there, don't tend to like those really big stores- too many people and not enough that know what's going on.

See you're in edmundson, ever try Trail Creek Trading Co. on the Rock Road, close to Lindbergh?

Thingster iv been to Trail Creek Trading Co. before. My experience wasn't too good when I was 18. I went in and they got aggravated that I was
walking around and just looking at the guns and not wanting to buy anything. Really the only reason I go to Cabelas is because its the closest place on this side of the river to me.

I'm in Missouri, but I frequent the Cabela's on the Kansas side. I guess that won't work out.

How far away is it from the Arkansas border? I was just dreaming about taking a trip to Cabelas in MO on the way out of work last night to get rifle ammo. For all the hunting and fishing down here I'm surprised we don't have one.

I just bought a Tapco stock for my SKS there this past Saturday. Pretty decent store, but I usually purchase any gun related items from Gateway Outfitters a few miles north in St. Charles. It's no Cabela's, but their service is professional and, although it's not likely they'll have everything you need in stock (like an aftermarket SKS stock) they can, and will order anything you need. Plus, instead of being treated like just a number (which is all you are at Cabela's) they treat you like a person, and are actually capable of holding a conversation instead of yelling "NEXT"!

Depends on where on the Arkansas Border you are. If you're more northeast, central, or northwest. I'd say if you're looking to go to the one in Hazelwood, you'd be at least 5 hours from it if you're close to the border, maybe even more.. I grew up near the southeast MO/northeast AR border and all my family still lives there.

Superlite27 I was actually at Gateway Outfitters last week checking it out for the first time.
For everyone to know I was using a Cabelas just as frequent meeting place. I would like to meet some of you in person because all the gun owners I know are Law Enforcement and all they do is spout nonsense on brand names and price tags. But after saying that I bet a few of you on here are officers from the city and if you are sorry but you do.

I go to that cabelas every now and then, usually go to nassau though.. the cabelas dose have a decent selection, just a lil pricy imho..

Went to both Nassau and Gateway last weekend for some browsing and fondling of weaponary and would say Nassau over Gateway purely on the prices.

There is a huge Bass Pro in Springfield for ya edSky, little closer than the Lou.

I'd say stay away from the "department store" gun shops and support local small business owners, you'll get a better feeling.

Same here, except for last week when I wanted a new firearm but wanted to keep it in-state so checked out the Hazelwood one.

I totally agree with you and love supporting small businesses, especially if they have better prices.

I don't really know the St. Louis area but would love to check out Nassau and Gateway. Anyone have addresses?

That just struck me like one of those "for a good time, call" writings.

No it not like that LOL Like I said many of the gun owners I know are real sobs when it comes to there firearm and most THR members are open to all firearms (I guess).

I know what you are saying, I have met the backwoods, once a month shower types, and recently saw an investment banker buying ammo for an AK and .50 cal.

I am an accountant, and often get odd looks when in a gunshop with a suit on. Even most "Gun Guys," think all gun nuts have to be dressed grungy or tacticool.

I also know a local Doctor that has a CCW, and uses it daily, carrying a Glock 36 and a reload.

Made the drive to StL Friday night and checked out Nassau thanks to this thread. Nicest guy in the world helped me out, even though they were about to close.

$60 cheaper than Cabela's on a couple pistols I compared. I'm definitely going back to Nassau for a longer visit.
