Anyone know where I can download the Missouri Firearms Application???

Some pals and I at work are discussing a few things on what is on it and whats not... I'd rather discuss with proof and know for sure...

Its been a few days since I filled out one...

What the (*)(*%)$#*% are you talking about?

Please explain. there is no firearms application form..... please give out more info on what you plan to do with the above mentioned none existent form

Agreed, you're gonna have to give us a little more info.

Or, since you just filled one out a few days ago, why not go and get/download another one from the same place you got the others?

There is no such thing as a "Missouri Firearms Application". You can get a "firearms deer hunting permit" to hunt deer with a rifle. There used to be a requirement that you basically had to get permission from your local law enforcement to purchase a pistol. That requirement was done away with a year or two ago.

Or could you be referring to the form you fill out for the background check when you purchase a firearm? This is a federal requirement handled by the ATF and not a state level application. Other than this form which is filled out during the purchase process, there is no other paperwork required to purchase a firearm in Missouri. 95% of the time the background check takes less than 5 minutes to complete over the phone or online (completed by the dealer, not you), using the information you provided on the form. The form is then kept on file by the dealer. To my knowledge the form is not downloadable, and doesn't need to be. It is provided by the dealer.

Umm, OK, maybe I called it by the wrong name... I'm truly sorry... But I'm pretty sure you don't just wak in pick up a firearm and walk out...

So, Let me see if I can reword this in a better way...

In Missouri, what would the piece of paper be called that the person behind the counter makes or maybe I should say asks you to fill out you fill out when you purchase a fire arm of the long gun variety???

Not really much to say here... We were talking about what all is on the form, opps paper for now and what questions it might or might not ask...

I can not remember each one...

I really did not mean to get anyone all worked up... Again, sorry for calling said paper the incorrect name... Wasn't ment to inflame anyone... Just friendly question...

OK... Does it hurt to ask???

What what I asked really that bad???

If it was it was not intended to be, I really did not mean to step on any toes or take anyones food away...

I was just trying to get some more facts for some people at work that I've got interested in getting into firearms and purchasing a few...

They think they know everything about the gun laws and such, even though they haven't bought a gun... I thought, I'd rather make sure I have all the facts and not speread B.S. and you know, they guys on here would surely have the info...

Not so sure about asking questions around here now...

sorry

apparently you have never bought a gun either from a gunshop:uhoh:

No Harm NO Fowl:D

smullen don't you ever go into gun stores? We don't mean to be rude but we can't understand why you are asking something that everyone, and I mean everyone would know if they went gun shopping at least ONCE.

Let me get this straight, because, I did not know the specific name for the ""form you fill out for the background check "", and I mistakenly called it a Gun Registration form I've never been in a gun store or bought one???

Wow... OK.... I don't even know what to say....

You call it whatever you want and think whatever you want of me....

Thanks for the help...

There you go. In MO this is the only form you fill out when you purchase a firearm from a dealer. Private trades/purchases require no forms. This form is required to be kept by the dealer for records purposes, but isn't sent to the ATF, although they can come see them whenever they want. They call-in the background check, they don't need any forms for that. Sometimes people get uppity when you don't ask something correctly, tis the way of the internet.

smullen, I suspect that you're thinking of the Form 4473. That is a federal form. It's filed out whenever you buy a firearm at a dealer. It asks a variety of questions, including questions that identify you (name, address, place of birth, height, weight, etc.) and questions about your background (have you ever been convicted of a felony?, are you subject to a domestic violence restraining order?, etc.).

I don't believe that there's a simple, online version that can be downloaded. There appears to be an electronic version on the ATF website (http://www.atf.treas.gov/applications/e4473/index.htm ). I haven't tried it, and I'm not sure if it's even accessible except to licensees for their use.

EDIT: Oops. It looks like jackdanson in post #10 provided you a link to a sample of the form.

smullen,
Pay no attention to the chattering masses. If they don't have anything "high road" to say, they shouldn't say anything at all on THIS forum.

The form itself is called BATF Form 4473, and the background check is called a NICS check (National Instant Check System). The form is the only thing you have to fill out in the state of Missouri to buy a firearm, unless you want something Full-Auto (1 trigger pull= multiple rounds fired), in which case I am completely clueless about that whole process (don't have $20K sitting around to buy something like that), but I think maybe there is some kind of 6 month waiting period and a $200 tax stamp involved. The civilian legal AR15's, AK47's, MP5's, etc. that most people here have are semi-auto (1 trigger pull= 1 round fired) and do not require anything more than a Form 4473 to be filled out.

As for the questions on Form 4473, see the link provided by jackdanson.

jackdanson, fiddletown, Texpatriate, Guys thanks for the info and help...

Contrary to the flack from the gentlemen above; I have filled out this form atleast well the number is not important...

I just did not know the name of the form or remember every line on it... I could describe it, but not remember the text of the questions...

Some felleas at the office and i were arguing a few things on it... The main one was if you had beeen charged with misdemeanor could you in fact purchase a firearm legally... I know its a definit no for a felony, but their question was on a misdemeanor... I said I thought misdemeanor you could, felony could not...

Yeah misdemanor is fine as long as it isn't a domestic violece charge. Then I think there are some more rules, but I think you can still get one... the link I provided has more info... click on the section I.
