After the previous bills proposed by MO Democrats trying to limit gun rights in our state, it seems the Republican majority are fighting back...

There is a bill proposing to make it a crime to enforce new federal gun laws.

And this bill would punish doctors and teachers who try to label gun owners in written records.

I have also read that lawmakers are preparing an amendment to the state constitution further solidifying state gun owner's rights. Keep writing letters, we are making progress!

"Labeling" is something we might fear, but in the long run, it's takes certified authority to make the pronouncement and make it stick. It then becomes a matter of compentency, in which the individual is either capable of standing in court responsible for his actions, or not. Predetermining it involves other issues, like HIPPA, and current law doesn't allow that data to be transmitted helter skelter among all and sundry.

Current event as the point - the Wikileaks defendant admits to leaking the documents because he was concerned, and the Media leaking CCW names and addresses. The Law of Unintended Consequences states that the worst thing nobody thought of will eventually result - so if there ever is a list published of who might be a demented whacko, and it's proven to damage their reputation, a local government or the perpetrator could be severely impacted by a court decision.

Who wants to manage that issue on a day to day basis in a small town PD? Who even keeps the list, how does a name get put on it, why, who else does it need to go to? The result is "prior restraint," keeping somebody from doing something because they might, but haven't done it.

Bag of snakes issue.
