Mixed report on San Antonio and Tucson; CNN

I'm a believer that contrary information is not widely seen or believed until it hits CNN. The link below is last night's Anderson Cooper 360; a report by Randi Kaye on the recent San Antonio theater almost-shooting and on the CCW'er at Tucson last year. It's very positive in light of the San Antonio shooter being stopped, but they make a big deal out of the fact that the CCW'er in Tucson almost shot "the Hero" who took down Jared Laughner instead of Laughner.

It would have been nice if instead of pointing out that he ALMOST shot the wrong person, it would have been pointed out that he DIDN'T....and if Laughner had still been shooting, this guy would have been there and ready to act before police arrived.

Zamudio himself said he almost shot the wrong man. Good on him for not shooting, but not the best choice of phrasing when talking to the media.

Zamudio spoke too much. He admitted in multiple interviews about almost shooting the wrong person, but it should be pointed out that he almost shot the wrong person AFTER the shooting was over, the gunman had been disarmed, the wrong person was the person securing the gun from the shooter, and Zamudio didn't even have his own gun drawn. His hand was on his gun, but it was not drawn. He really didn't almost shoot anyone. He almost considered shooting someone. There is a difference.

It is interesting to note that not only was the SA shooter shot by an off duty deputy, but that the deputy was actually on duty as a security guard for the theater.

Yeah, they compared the two where the guy almost shot the wrong guy, and neglect to talk about the Empire State Building shooting where Police injured nine bystanders, and the Baltimore shooting where police killed a plain clothes detective.

IMHO, if you are in a situation and you don't use your gun successfully to influence the outcome - just be quiet except for witness testimony. Don't be blabbing out chest-pounding what ifs.

Tuscon guy is being used as a poster boy of almost screwup and useless gun boy.
