Mixing old and new powders???

I have two cans of unique that are probably 15-17, years old (marked $7.95). My question is "Should I mix in some old powder with the new"?? The powder was keep in and clean dry place. I was just wondering if the powder had maybe deterioated a little and mixing in new stuff would maybe make a better load than just the old stuff alone?

Why would you want to mix old powder with new powder? Last year Unique was changed and it's the same exact powder as it was. Even if it were the same, even different lots will change how the powder shoots.

There's really no reason to mix powders and it's not safe at all to do so. Besides, if the old powder is bad (which I highly doubt) you are only ruining more powder by mixing the new with the old.

Don't mix it. Unique was one of the powders reformulated in recent years, and it's different now.

You can tell if powder has started to go bad by smelling it and looking at it. If it has a very strong chemical smell to it, and has a red dust on it, then it's gone bad. If it looks and smells normal, then just load it.

If you did mix them, and the old powder started or continued going bad.

It would just ruin the new powder from the acid fumes given off by the old powder.

Often the old metal cans can contribute to the powder degradation. Depending on storage conditions and age, the metal cans can start to rust inside and the oxides will affect the powder. Plastic containers with a good seal will lengthen the storage life of the powder. I use old plastic powder cans and tape and remark them.
