MN 91/30 front site

For the life of me I cannot figure how the front site base on a 91/30 is attached....I know the m44 is pinned, but I cannot find anything on the net describing how the 91/30 is attached....

does anyone know??? I wanted to shorten the barrel and keep the front site..I would probably buy a 44 but have not seen any around lately..

its adovetail thats pre molded onto the barrel

That "molded" part is what I am trying to remove...I have the sight post and hood out of the dove tail....the "base" is what I cannot figure out...

No pins that I can see..

Don't ruin it, wait a bit and get an M38 or M44. Do you have a C&R?

I don't think that part is meant to come off easily. The article says that, "The front sight base is staked to hold the sight in place. It should only be removed if necessary."

My 91/30 shot about 12" high. I ended up stripping the plastic insulation off some Romex wire and twisting that over the peg to raise it. Kind of a thick front sight but still much better.
