Just pick up a MN 91/30 for $69.99 at Dunham Sports in Angola Indiana, They also had a MN M44 for $79.99, so I bought it too.

I am one happy camper.:D :D

They both look pretty nice. Good score.

What are the dates and manufacturers? Any "SA in a box" marks?

I saw the same sale and picked up the M/N 91/30. And a box of ammo. This milsurp habit is going to be rough. 1943r date of manufacture and in Izhevsk. There is a box right below the hammer and sickle - but dan't make out what is in it.

holy cow, i didnt know there was a Dunhams in angola. i went to tri-state for a year. i might have to check this sale out locally. although i dont know if this gun is worth my $70 (to me).

Whats the bore like on that 91? Ive been after one for awhile myself but waiting for a excellent specimen to go with my Kar98.You'll have to shoot it and tell us how it does.

C&R collecting can be so addicting, you did good.

For $70 bucks, you're getting a rearsenald like new gun (usually), that if made today would cost at least $500 bucks. It will probably shoot to your limitations as well. Cant beat 'em.

RH822, well tell us about it. What year was it made and where, any interesting markings, etc, etc. The collector-types want details! :)

If I had someone close out that way they'd be picking one up and shipping it to my dealer right now! That would make only the jap and enfield left for my collection.

I'm not a collector type but here it goes.
Both were manufactured in 1944 and both are arsenal rebuilds the 91/30 does not have matching numbers the receivers S\N has been hand engraved on the bolt, floor plate and butt plate. There is a small repair to the forearm by the front barrel band.

The M44 has matching numbers and a small repair to the lower forearm around the cleaning rod channel.

Bores on both are bright and the rifling is sharp. Aside from the 2 repairs I already mentioned and a couple minor dents the wood is in great shape on both guns.

I do not know where they were made and my camera will not give me a clear enough picture of the markings to post, so I really can't help you there.

I should point out there are still dozens of markings that no one knows anything about. My M38 has at least three that don't show up on any website.

Hopefully some kind ex-Soviet armorer will write a book one day, and fill us in!
