I was wondering what the groove in the IDP #4-xd is for. Where should I seat the case mouth above or just below the groove? I've tried both ways with good results, would like to know the correct way.

The correct way is to seat it as long as possible consistent with perfect function and you're golden. Simple!

The groove is a crimp groove for revolver use.

Thanks, just wanted to be sure. I'm getting ready to order my 2nd box. Does the 230 soft ball feed in an XD as well as the IDP #4 ?

I'm running the 200gr IDP #4-XD in my XD-45 service, and the bullets feed, as they say, like butter.

I can't see any reason why the 230-grain wouldn't feed--looks like the same profile.

I don't shoot them because I can't think of a good reason to (the 200-grain works just dandy and is slightly cheaper), but I wouldn't have any qualms about buying and using them if I did.
