Model 19 vs. Model 15

For my next purchase I am set on a 4" or 6" K- or L-frame S+W. I've always preferred stainless and for the most part have checked out 66's and 686's but lately what I'm thinking about the most is one of the two mentioned in the thread title. I have talked with a few "old-timers" (whose gun opinions I trust) say that their favorite of the guns they own are their M15's.
I guess my main question is other than the obvious differences like the versatility of .357 capability and the shrouded ejector rod, are there any significant differences? My impression is there are virtually no size or weight difference between a 15(67) and a 19(66). Is that correct? How about the old ".38's are less accurate in a .357"? Any other input or suggestions?

My M15 is lighter than my M19, both 4" guns. I can't tell you how much and it really isn't much, but there is a difference.

For pure shooting the M15 is hands down the way to go. I think the M15 is as good as a revolver will ever get for pure shooting.

My M15 is more accurate than my M19 with the best loads I have found for each, it is ludicrously accurate. My M19 is no slouch, but the 15 is just so accurate few would believe it until they saw it.

I shoot the M19 a lot, and like it too, but prefer the 15 for everything but carry.

Pick up a 6" M14 and a 4" M15, you won't be sorry.

If you want a .357 Magnum and intend to shoot it much, go to the L-frame.

If you're intention it to plink around and target shoot at the range, pick a model 14 or 15.

If you are looking for the lightest practical .357 Magnum to carry as a weapon, then pick the 19.

Back in the late 1940's my first "very own" revolver was a K-38 Combat Masterpiece (pre model 15). Since then I've lost track of the number I've owned. All of them were great shooters and fine revolvers. For the very best in pack-around guns you can't do better.

Look for a good used model 67 which is a stainless steel model 15. I have a Police trade in model 67 with tapered barrel and its one fine shooter.

Model 15 all the way. The best revolver ever made. I like my 19, but the 15 is a treasure for all of the reasons already listed.

I like the extra heft (not really weight per se but it feels more substantial than the 15) so I guess i would have to say I perfer the 19. But you can't go wrong either way.

I like the Model 19 too. Being versatile never hurts for any gun.

The Model 19's cylinder is a little bit longer than the Model 15's, so it weighs just a little bit more.

The M-15 bbl is also much lighter as it is a slim tapered profile, and the M-19 is a non-tapered heavy bbl.
