ok im gonna trade my .38 for a .357,the blue smith 27 is 350.00 pretty good shape, almost new stainless gp100 ruger 399.00,and a dan wesson .357 ,tool ,box, blue for 375.00 ,older one but like new,i think the d/w might be a model 15,adjustable sights, fancy wood grips, big dw on them, which is the best gun.been back twice, cant decide.

Well, if I had to make the choice it would be the S&W model 27. The model 27 is the original platform for the 357 magnum round back in the 1930s. In my area they command around $650 to $750. The price your saying you can get it for is a deal.
Nothing wrong with the GP100 but I can find them anyday of the week. The Dan Wesson is hard to find but given a choice I will take the S&W model 27.
Good luck,
Howard

I'd buy the Dan if it is a model 15 Monson manufactured revolver and it comes with the barrel wrench and feeler gauge. Next I would consider the GP. The prices quoted on all of them are very fair if they are in good shape.

What's the dash on the 27? If it's 27-2 I'd go for that one. Next would be the DW, especially if it's a Monson-made 15. Owned two GP100s, sold them both, just never warmed up to 'em.

My own order of preference:

1) S&W Model 27
2) Dan Wesson Model 15
3) Ruger GP-100

Rugers are decent guns, but in my opinion nowhere near the quality of a S&W Model 27 or Dan Wesson. If it were me, I'd drop the Ruger from consideration and take the one that looks and feels the best between the S&W or Dan Wesson. The S&W or DW will be a better investment and will increase in value. The Ruger will not increase in value as long as they continue to make them.

This is an absolute no brainer...

A 27-2, if thats what you are talking about will keep its value or increase. While a Ruger is not a bad gun, the 27 is a hundred times more collectable. Plus its one of SW finest.

i will take all the advice, the smith"s27 finish is wore more but it is just as tight, ill check the dw to see if its a monsoon,i like the gp too but i swear it had some kind of funky grip on it,rubber and wood or something or other, the wood on the d/w is realy nice, the smith has this ready to take care of business look and feel, needs a lil cleaning not as clean as other two.

That grip on the GP100 is probably factory. Visit their website, I don't think their factory grips are that comfortable but they do make a really good product that you won't wear out.
If you are looking for a practical daily shooter I would probably go with the GP but if you are looking for a good classic to shoot and admire, I would definately go the model 27 direction after thinking about your question from my earlier post.
Some of the Dan Wessons are really good also as described above but they don't stack up against a good model 27classic IMHO.
The old S&W classics are my Archilles heal.
It depends what you are going to use it for.

A 27-2 is next on my list. If you were to let me know the phone number of that shop, I would be happy to call and make sure it's still available for you :D

I would also go with the model 27. Price is very good unless something is wrong with it.

If the S&W is tight then you can send it in and have it re-blued for apparently around $150. That would bring you up to $500 for it and it would look like new. And a 27 is truly a thing of beauty to behold as well as to shoot.

And get this, even with a total after re-blueing of $500'ish into it if you find that it's not quite fitting you and even with a change of grips it just doesn't seem to fill you with happiness you could list it for the whole $500'ish and sell it pretty much pronto. What's not to like about a no risk deal like that?

That is an almost too good to believe price on the Model 27. That revolver will increase in price but I would be sure to check it over and make sure it's in good condition. You know the old saying, "If it sounds too good to be true it usually is."

well i am gonna do the revolver checkout on the smith real good, ceck the others out.thanks.

If you're getting a Smith & Wesson 27, in solid shooting condition, we won't even talk about the finish, for $350.00, run, do not walk, to make the deal. I've got two of them and paid at least twice that for each of them.

Actually if I could get any of the three for $350.00, I'd jump on them, but I'd get the Model 27, first.

Check my name and see what I'd buy. LOL. The S&W is a good buy, but Dan Wessons are more accurate and have adjustable barrel gaps with multiple barrels lengths/shroud configurations and different twist rates available.

^ this.

Hot doggies. I just love helping someone spend their money.
Wow it that S&W 27 is one of the older ones you'd better grab it QUICK at that price. If it's not, it's still a good buy at that price. If it's a newer one with the lock (MIM parts don't bother me per say, but the lock does) it's still a good price. But if it's a new one I'd go with the Dan Wesson. They are great revolvers, strong, accurate, & small enough for a carry gun. Then there are the interchangable barrels. If it's the right model you can swap bbl lengths & that's a nice option.
Good luck in your decision.
Frank
